                             PYTHON QUAKE v1.0
                             =================
                      by Andrew Doro and Nick Doro
                           aka Zahgurim

The long-awaited sequel to PULP QUAKE!

                           =====================
                           WHAT IS PYTHON QUAKE?
                           =====================

        Python Quake is Quake, but we've changed the sound effects and some
of the graphics to make it funnier! The sound effects for the weapons,
creatures, player and items have been taken from the popular television show
"Monty Python's Flying Circus" by the brilliant comedy group, Monty Python!

                            ===============
                            GRAPHIC CHANGES
                            ===============

        The two graphic changes were added in to make things seem more
surreal. Nails now look like bubbles, making your nailguns like bubble guns!
We've also included the proper sound effects. Grenades now look like Rotfish,
and when grenades are fired, whether by Ogre or player, it's accompanied by
the exclamation "Fish!" The total effect is really great! Don't worry, none of
these changes actually change the balance of the game!

                         =======================
                         HOW TO USE PYTHON QUAKE
                           IN FOUR EASY STEPS
                         =======================

1) Make a directory parallel to id1 in your quake directory. Call it MPYTHON,
or else the PYTHON.BAT we made for you won't work! This is IMPORTANT!

2) Unzip the contents of MPYTHON.ZIP into the MPYTHON directory you just made.
To unzip something, you need an unzip program, like PKUNZIP. If you have
PKUNZIP, just type: pkunzip mpython.zip

NOTE: Before you unzip MPYTHON.ZIP, you need to make sure you have enough
      memory. MPYTHON.ZIP takes up about 6 MB of hard disk space ZIPPED.
      Unzipped, the files take ups almost the same amount of memory (6 MB).
      So, make sure you've got the space.

3) Put the PYTHON.BAT in the QUAKE directory. Put the STARTUP.SCR and PAK0.PAK
in the MPYTHON directory. Get the file structure to look like this:

\quake\python.bat
\quake\mpython\pak0.pak
\quake\mpython\startup.scr

4) To play PYTHON QUAKE, type from the c:\quake> prompt the word PYTHON.

                             ============
                             WHAT WE USED
                             ============

- Monty Python's Complete Waste of Time by 7th level.
- Winpack v1.2 by Anthony Barrat. This is an AWESOME program! Without it,
  PYTHON QUAKE would not be possible. We highly recommend Winpack.
- Quake (of course!)
- An AT&T pentium laptop computer.
- Windows 3.11 sound recorders/editors.
- Pkzip. What a great program!
- Qccdos by John Carmack. Also invaluable.

                      KNOWN BUGS OR QUIRKS
                      ====================

As far as we know, none whatsoever! But, if you find any, PLEASE tell us!

                         ==============
                         TECHNICAL INFO
                         ==============

MPYTHON.ZIP contains PAK0.PAK, README.TXT, STARTUP.SCR, PYTHON.BAT and
SOURCE.ZIP. If you want the individual .WAV files, you need to use an unpacker, like
Winpack. If you want the original .QC files for the PROGS.DAT, unzip
SOURCE.ZIP. You can change/alter/use this program any way you want, I don't
mind. Just don't be an asswipe and say you entirely made it yourself. Give me
the credit I deserve! You don't have to give me credit for the .WAV files.

This program took us much less time to complete than our previous mod, Pulp
Quake. We sorta just threw this together after making Pulp Quake. So, as a
result, this is not as compact as it could be and is sort of unfinished, but
we never felt like really giving it the time it deserved. So, if you want,
YOU can improve it, because most likely, we'll never release an updated
version.

                         ================
                         ALSO LOOK FOR...
                         ================

Pulp Quake - This was the first modification for Quake we did. It's very
             similar to this mod, only we used segments from the film
             "Pulp Fiction" directed by Quentin Tarantino. It's REALLY
             awesome (probably better than Python Quake). Do us a favor and
             check it out!

BadMuthaFukka's Config - It's REALLY GOOD! Lot's of sound effects and special
                         features! Go get it RIGHT NOW!
