			Welcome to my monster quake patch version 1.1


                          This patch is HUGE !!! (Well i think so anyway)

                        This patch is mainly for single level or co-op quake players

                        (although you can play deathmatch with my cool weapons)

                        for whom not many patches exist... well not to worry...

                        I have collected the best monsters for quake from

                        around the net and put them all together for the ultimate

                        single player's quake patch.



                          I know most of you are sick of the quake monsters....well

                        if your not you are at least bored of the same game over

                        and over again... and I know most of you probably want to

                        finish quake one more time before quake 2 comes out right ?

                        Well this is the way to do it. I have replaced nearly

                        all monsters (except zombies and tarbaby) with ones that

                        are far more harder to kill and much more enjoyable to play

                        against, especially with the 7 new weapons I have included

                        for you guys to blow em away with.



                          The soldier, enforcer and shambler are replaced with monsters

                        that I have created (Thanks to the some of the skins from KQP),

                        I altered the model for the soldier, added the skin to the

                        enforcer and soldier (Harder then you may think), created the

                        skin for the shambler, changed the code for the soldier and

                        added cool sounds for all of them.



                          The 7 weapons are included along with the normal quake

                        weapons. I did the code for all the weapons myself although

                        I did use stuff from existing weapons to help me.



                          I do not deserve credit for the creators of the other

                        monsters I have used, I merely put it all together, so

                        for the other monsters I have used I have included the text

                        file that they included with their stand alone patches to give

                        the creators credit for their work (Thanks).

        The monsters are as follows -



    -- blarg replaces the demon



    -- goblin replaces the dog



    -- snakeman replaces the knight



    -- spider replaces the hell knight



    -- manga babe replaces the ogre



    -- a combination of 5 dragons replace the wizard (chosen at random)



       * black dragon

       * cyborg dragon (I added a skin for the red dragon since

       i at first wanted a futuristic theme)

       * white dragon

       * green dragon

       * blue dragon



    -- an alien type creature replaces the soldier



    -- a cyborg type robot replaces the enforcer



    -- a demon type creature replaces the shambler

          The weapons are as follows -



    -- the normal axe has been replaced by a poison axe

       (get to water if you are poisoned)



    -- the shotgun is the same



    -- a sniper rifle has been added with the super shotgun (weapon 3's)

       (auto gibs with one shot but takes 3 seconds to reload)

       (Thanks to team fortress for the model)



    -- a laser gun has been added with the nailgun (weapon 4's)

       (mega fast and mega damage)



    -- a mini gun has been added with the super nailgun (weapon 5's)

       (even fater and much more damage)

       (Again thanks to team fortress for the models)



    -- a proximity bomb has been added with the grenade launcher (weapon 6's)

       (keep a look out for these bastards)



    -- drunk missiles have been added with the missile launcher (weapon 7's)

       (6 drunks are fired which fly in random directions)



    -- a mega flame thrower has been added with the lightning gun (weapon 8's) 

       (B-U-R-N  - very cool)



    NOTE: To use the added weapons you must get the normal weapon and

    press the number corresponding with this weapon twice



    eg if you get the super shotgun press 3 to use the super shotgun and press

        3 again to use the sniper gun



By the way, I also added more gibbing and blood, enjoy :-]

How to install the modification:

--------------------------------

Unzip the file to your Quake directory with the "-d" extension.



Then run Quake with the "-game" extension.



For example, to unzip and run in a "MQP" subdirectory in Quake, type:



md c:\quake\MQP

pkunzip -d monqp1.zip \quake\MQP

cd\quake

quake -game MQP

Editor(s) used          : Qme, Quake army knife, Paint Shop Pro, Winpacker, proqcc



Stuff I Did             :

                        -- First of all I put the gun for the soldier on his

                        shoulder (This took me ages)



                        -- made the soldier shoot rockets at your ass (hahaha)



                        -- Resized the dragon so he fits in the levels



                        -- messed around totally with the code from the

                        dragons so it would work without QUARK (This probably

                        took me the longest)



                        -- added random code for the dragon so for every wizard

                        a dragon is chosen at random



                        -- made diablo monsters skin



                        -- put in sounds for my monsters



                        -- fit the skin around the enforcer



                        -- made slight changes in the enforcer model



                        -- messed around with code from every single monster

                        so they all would work with each other (unbelievably

                        hard in some cases) I also made minor changes in

                        every monsters code so the monster worked better and

                        so they where not too easy to kill or not too

                        hard etc



                        -- made the code for every gun since my friends told

                        me that a monster patch was no fun without new guns.





Known Bugs              : -- the dragons are so talented that they seem to

                        go through walls and other objects at times

                        (There must be some explanation ???)



                          -- If other bugs are found please e-mail me a list



Build Time              : About a five weeks, since this is my first patch for any game



Stuff about me          : I am a second year computer science student at the

                        University of Western Sydney Nepean. See, we do have

                        computers in Australia...





Comments                : I hope the monsters aren't too hard to kill (hahaha)



                        Oh, and i would like to thank everyone who's monster

                        I used to create this patch as well as id for their

                        brilliance shown in quake.



                        Special thanks to team fortress whom i hope will not

                        mind that i used their models.

Legal Stuff             : The monsters that I have created are based around

                        creatures used elsewhere but are in no way supposed to

                        resemble these creatures exactly and are purely used

                        for entertainment purposes only.



                          The monsters I have used are only because it

                        has been stated in the text files that I may and if

                        the owner of the monster wishes me to remove their

                        monster or the changes I made to their file I shall.





                           If Team Fortress wishes me to take out their models

                         I shall.
