================================================================ Title : DmGehenna Version : 2.1 Release Date : January 9th 1999 Filename : DmGehenna.zip Author(s) : Fleshdance Email Address : fleshdance@hotmail.com Web Page : None Description : A relatively small map in a winter setting, intended mainly for one-on-one or three player deathmatch. Where to get this map : http://home.sol.no/~saraptor/dmgehenna.zip Other levels by author : The Incinerator (Quake 2) Additional Credits to : The Unreal-team for bringing forth this brilliant game (and bundling the editor with it), and, perhaps most of all, the guys at http://www.unrealed.net for their comprehensive and well-written collection of tutorials. (I would like to mention Millenium in particular.) If it weren't for them, I would never have gotten it right. Randar, for his helpful document on pathnoding, and the guys at Epic MegaBoard (http:\\megaboard.epicgames.com) has been a tremendous help. Thanks! And finally, SARAPTOR for putting in some late hours with me playtesting and uploading it. ================================================================ --- Play Information --- Game : Unreal Level Name : Gehenna Single Player : No Cooperative : No Deathmatch : Yes Darkmatch : No Botmatch : Yes Difficulty Settings : No New Sounds : No New Graphics : No NewUnrealScript : No External DLLs : No Known bugs : Not a big thing, but it seems that if a bot is the first to die by the siren's trap, the custom death message doesn't work properly for some reason. It only displays the name of the bot. This doesn't apply if a human player is first caught in the trap. Weird. (If you get trapped and live, you will lose your current weapon. This is however intended, but just so you know...) --- Construction --- Editor(s) used : UnrealEd v.209 beta/v.220 beta Base : New level Construction Time : A few of weeks, on and off Installation ------------ Unzip the the files and place them into your maps directory under the unreal directory. Type in "open dmgehenna" to run the map. Alternatively, double-click the map, or select it from the maplist when starting a bot- or multiplayer game. Author's Notes -------------- As this is my first shot at UnrealEd, DmGehenna was initially intended as a way to learn the basic features of UnrealEd, but as the snowball started rolling, it evolved beyond that, which is why I decided to release it. DmGehenna was at first meant for one-on-one deathmatching, but I think you'll find it's great fun with three or four players as well. Just prepare yourself for some chaotic massacration... DmGehenna should be bot-ready thanks to Randar's tips for pathnoding, although I can't get the bastards to use the brick stair on the wall in the outside area. I've tried PathNodes and LiftExits and LiftCenters, but no luck. (If anybody knows how to solve this problem, please mail me.) It doesn't affect the botplay seriously though, since it doesn't prohibit the bots to get to the area in question. They just have to take a small detour. I should perhaps warn you that I've intentionally ignored all advice from UnrealEd- editors worldwide and put fog throughout the entire level. (Hey! It's a winter setting, the fog made it look more cold and it added a lot to the atmosphere of being deserted and desolate, which I had planned from the beginning... OK?! Besides, it's a small map.) Therefore, those of you with little RAM, slow processor etc - in an Unreal point of view of course (you know what I mean) - may be a bit disappointed with the framerate they're getting. Sorry about that. Copyright / Permissions ----------------------- This level is copyrighted by Fleshdance 1998. Authors may NOT use this level as a base to build additional levels.
