so i have been playing it. it's seems really fun would be amazing on psp, considering you dont have to look up or down. little bit too anime themed for me. but none the less fun! what's everyone else think?

on a side note, since "leilei" doesn't agree with me and hasn't left any comment on why not. (aside from the obvious of possible limitation problems.) the game play would work pretty nice, it has basic aiming "left to right" , looks nice and has great game play that i think could carry over to just about any device.

even though this wasn't meant to be the main discussion on my thread, i understand why leilei might assume it's what i meant. all i wanted to read was your opinions on the game it's self. the psp comment was my offhanded way of telling the psp modders to try and think outside of the box and stop copying preexisting games, i just felt that the game play in RetroBlaze is a great example of what some of the psp modders can do with something simple.

also i apologize to everyone but leilei about my starting comment, i'v had a bad few days, and honestly am tired of leilei's constant attacks of immaturity towards people who he doesn't agree with and decided to combat such immaturity with immaturity in return "fight fire with fire."

I'm interested in the idea of more simple gameplay in a 3D environment large because:

1. Laptops don't have a mouse. Neither do tablets. Games that overly depend on the mouse are less useful.
2. Portable devices with simpler controls.

Desktops are kind of becoming scarce and in the future even more so. This means the mouse is becoming scarce.

Short term I'm interested in more 2D navigation oriented maps ... longer term I'd really like to see if I can come up with a way to get good 3D navigation with a simpler control set like a laptop touchpad.

[Still, for instance, the slight aim correction in say single player Quake is why Quake could be played keyboard only ...]

I've played through Quake, Quake II, Doom 3 and now Rage on a touchpad. It takes some investment of time and effort to get used to it (screaming at your computer and throwing it against a wall the first time you execute a 360 in 2 dimensions and end up looking down and at an angle when all you wanted was to turn left a little will get you nowhere), but it is certainly possible and not too difficult.

The only major limiting factor that I find is lack of a proper scroll wheel; the more typical edge-scrolling on a touchpad just doesn't cut it for an FPS and needs to be disabled.

lol i'v even tried to play quake with a touch pad and all i have to say is ow hand cramp . it might be me, but i'm guessing the reason i have such troubles with them is because of where they're placed.

* I think they use WASD because certain other keys are easy to reach from there, unlike with the arrow keys. Also practically every FPS/3PS uses it as the default setting today, which is pretty nice.
