Hmm took the external texture support from jshexen2 but it does not work ?

instead of loading textures from data1/textures its trying to load from subfolders in textures like mod and tex hmm. the output looks a bit weird i get mod.tga and tex.tga instead of texturename.tga

I know FrikaC made a cgi-bin version of the quakec interpreter once and wrote part of his website in QuakeC :) (LordHavoc)

Thanks :) well i guess since its the most stable of the different ports it would fit better there.

Theres one bug though but its not related to external textures. the necromancers magic missiles seem to bug out in the alpha channel so they get a dark square around them. I tried loading up unmodified version just to check and its there also. Might be missing a flag to set them as transparent as this is the only one of them that doesnt work right.

And i might post a new version soon since it seems i had some flags set wrong in the textureloader (unless sezero spots and corrects them before me heh) weird side effect was that with the wrong flags the game looked even better lol i dunno what gives.
Also added underwater warp and infinite view matrix from MH.

Hello reckless,

sorry that I came late to the party.
Beeing one of those person that participated a lot in Bakers mentioned thread:
http://quakeone.com/forums/quake-talk/o ... ssion.html
I would like to answer your question from the previous page:

Not so long time ago a very talented engine coder, called jeank from russia took jshexen2 and improved it a lot.
You have all the things that you might want in it now.
External textures included of course.

Jeank is a very warm and kind person. I also had some private contact with him.
His "final" version of jshexen2 can be donwloaded from his website.
Unfortunately (that seems to be popular in russia), the full version of H2 is included.
That throws a bad light on this pack of course (because it is illegal to do so).

jshexen2 is especially designed and improved by jeank for Hexen2.
Just like Spike said, this game is buggy and its bugs must be corrected via the engine.

The external textures for world, skies, powerups, some view-weapons and monster skins as well
as decals and even particles are all included in jeanks pack.
A lot more, like external music files, and so on...
He even added shaders into it and other very nice visual effects.
The in-game menue is heavily extended to make use of the many new settings.
The bells and whistles come close to DarkPlaces.
Taking a look at his screenshots will show it.

Knowing you, as a very good and "interested in new things" coder, reckless, I can only encourage you to
try jeanks version of jshexen2 and take a look into the engine source.
If you cannot find the engine source on his page, I have it here.

If you want to browse his page, simply use google-translate (from russian to english).
Try this link:

Best wishes,
Seven
