an iron sight not only needs of an animation, also needs something of balance in the game. For example mini-FOV ( zoom if you use darkplaces), speed of the player, precision etc. For all this I advise you that you should check the source code of the "tactical quake" (it is an open code) it does not have precisely an iron sight, but the desert eagle (?), the pistol has something that of course will have to help you in your code.
