Just taking a quick look at ZQuake's "nqconnect" capability.
ZQuake is a Quakeworld client and like FTEQW it can run normal Quake progs.dat and connect to regular Quake servers.
Observations:
It shows ping in the scoreboard even when connected to NQ servers. (ProQuake's ping method?)
Is ip:port capable.
NAT-fixed for NQ? Unknown.
I'm interested in checking out the differences and trying to play a few games of NQ online sometime using ZQuake to see what works well and what surprises there are.
I don't make any secret of the fact I really like ZQuake and am thinking of eventually seeing if I can combine ProQuake, ZQuake, FitzQuake, aguirReQuake, Makaqu into a single NQ/QW client with single player big map support and an enhanced FTEQW software renderer.
I had hoped I'd have time to do that in 2009. Maybe sometime in 2010 I will have an extended period of time that I can do something time consuming like that.
