Vanilla Quake 1 entity limit?

In Vanilla Quake 1, software renderer, is 256 the entity limit?

Nope. IIRC, 600 entities.
I know FrikaC made a cgi-bin version of the quakec interpreter once and wrote part of his website in QuakeC :) (LordHavoc)
