"A
few of your former colleges were sent to an allegedly abandoned Missile
Base, but something went wrong. The company you are working for has no
idea where they might be, or even if they're still alive. Now they are
going to send you in to find out exactly what happened." ~The Martim Team
The
same folks who brought you "Raw Sewage" (that's
the name of their previous level not a comment on their editing ability...)
have returned with another, this one entitled "Missile Base 'A32'.
Don't
ask why you were sent to an abandoned Strogg missile base, you just were.
You are probably on a need to know basis anyway and you don't need to know.
Besides, you know enough, you know it's not abandoned..(if it is you are
probably in multiplayer mode :-).
Ok,
let's take a look at this level. It's a tad sparse, but remember it's abandoned,
it's supposed to look that way. Keeping that in mind will help you to appreciate
the stark functionality of this abandoned base. Gameplay is good,
there is enough opposition to keep you on your toes, and armed with the
default blaster and the regular shotgun only (until you find the secret
containing the super shotgun) you are not packing much in the way of fire
power. This helps to increase the tension as you are now constantly looking
to dispatch your opponent as quickly as possible with repeated blasts and
not get hit yourself.
Field
computer (F1) messages are short and to the point with a few twists along
the way. These twists help create the illusion that your messages are dynamic
and not canned.
This
is a fairly quick yet fun romp, be prepared for your toughest challenge
at the exit, with that shotgun and running low on health you will need
all your Quake II fighting skills to make it out alive. |
Looks like most of the furnishings at the base are packed up...
Naw, he's not going to ask to see your I.D., but you can show him your
shotgun, heh, heh.
Cavernous room, I suppose this is one of the abandoned missile silos...
