"SETTING:
Mesquite, Texas, circa 1873"...John Carmack has hidden
a CD copy of the new Quake Arena code by sending it back in time for his
great- great- great- grandpappy to safeguard. Now you must head back to
old west Mesquite, find One Nut and recover the CD..."~Roger Staines. |
Close
to a year ago Roger Staines brought us his Quake1 humorous original western
level entitled "Ghost Town". Just when you thought
the old west was safe the treacherous Strogg have saddled up and ridden
into town once more. |
Ghost Town
2 features the same great old west architecture but spruced up a bit
using the Quake2 engine. This time around prepare yourself for some very
cool effects which include: lightning that is thunderous and lights up
the sky, a honky tonk saloon with real player piano music, a flash flood
which submerges a portion of town, a mill with a rotating water wheel and
tons of secrets to be found. |
Gameplay
gets rather tough at the end but you should have enough ammo and health
if you incorporate a bit of strategy to your playing. |
The
local "girls" and their "friends" in the hotel added a nice touch of humor. |
If you
enjoyed Roger's first Ghost Town you will
certainly want to check out this Quake2 sequel. If the Ghost Town
Series is new to you, then this is a great primer. Enjoy! |
