 A Quake Map Hotel Production

Webmaster of the unique Quake  level rating sites Lt.Dan's SPQ2 and Lt. Dan's SPQ, find out how he came to be called Lt. Dan.

Real LifeMy real name is Gene Spinks, I'm 35 years old and live in a very small town in Ohio... I'm married, my wife's name is Valerie and we have four kids Kasey, Alexandria, Jacob and Rebecca...

A guy that worked for me was always doing Forrest Gump impressions and since I was his boss he called me Lt.Dan all the time and I guess it just stuck...

I had made a few Doom2 levels and one pitiful Quake level and wanted to be part of the scene...  After making my Quake level I realized that making levels wasn't going to be my best offering...  I just had major surgery and had three months to kill and stumbled across Matt Sefton's page and crash's SPQ and thought what a cool idea... So I laid in my hospital bed for three days trying to come up with an idea (so as not to copy Matt and crash) and it finally hit me...  I would let my readers decide what were the best levels out there...  About a week later  (February 7, 1997) Lt.Dan's Single Player Quake was born...

Lt Dan and Mrs. Lt. Dan

I guess what I like most is making friends all over the world, it's an
honor to be part of such a great bunch of people that make up the Quake Community...  What I dislike has to be my lack of html and graphic's genius...

hehe...  She's been busted down to private...

Surfing My first stop is of course Blue's to find out what's new...  After that I check out all the SPQ sites AWOQ2, SPQ Level Heaven, crash's SPQ, The Quake Map Hotel among others...  Then it's off to check out all the author's pages I've bookmarked (Neil Manke, Ace, Mike Reed and about thirty others) and cdrom looking for maps... I've just moved my Quake site to "frag.com" and I'm hoping to keep it
going as long as there is interest I will...  As for my Quake II site it will soon be moving and it will be fully automated...  When you rate a map you can see the difference your rating made instantly...  I think this will make a lot more people interested in the ratings...

FinallyI guess in closing all I'd like to say is thank you Igor and all the people
in the Quake community that have supported my sites...
