Quake 1 Single Player Map ============================================================ Title: Heat Files: dm4jam_themusic.bsp, *.lit, *.map WADs: dm4jam.wad, included Author: Matthew L. aka TheMusic Email address: donoteatmikezila@gmail.com Discord: allcaps#9761 Description: A short single player level in the style of dm4. Supported Modes: Singleplayer, untested co-op. ============================================================ This is a very small map that was created while also learning the very basics of how quake levels are created, along with how to find and use all of the tools required to do so. This represents my first attempt at creating a quake map. Even as a newcomer I can see that it's too short, too simple, and too boxy. Still, I am glad I took part in the jam and feel like I've learned a lot. The deadline alone helped me actually finish the map, as short as it is, instead of giving up halfway through. I plan to use what I learned to spend longer making my next map, which I hope will be something I'm proud of as more than just a first step. My vision for this map was a series of short, intense battles that tried to capture the feeling of fighting teleporter-to-teleporter during a real deathmatch on dm4. I intended to have a flow of the player fighting through a combat room, then zipping through a small, safe corridore that gave them supplies for the next combat room, but I underestimated the ammount of time needed to do that on the scale I had envisioned. I'm excited to give this concept another shake once I have a bit more experience under my belt. ============================================================ tools: Trenchbroom 2.0.0 + ericw-tools 0.18 engines tested: quakespasm ============================================================ Distribution / Copyright / Permissions This is free and unencumbered software released into the public domain.
