Well Mango my first impression of TFC`s 2 forts is "Unreal" ...I thought TFC was made for Half-life not Unreal... NO, NOT the game!! I really like the added terrain around the fort itself. Ya the mountain in the background is awesome, it makes it look like there is more to the map than just the front of the two forts.

The graphics are just plain excellent! The lighting however, well, there's just to much!! Reminds me of shopping in a lighting center! Gone is the dark corners where those deadly snipers lurk. Now I don`t know about you but I like to "Camp" in those dark areas awaiting my prey, or you which ever comes first!! Me?!? Now what did I ever do to you! At least now when you lose your walker you will be able to find it!

Mango, what do you think of the signs all over? Hey im not so old that I need to ask for directions in this map! Well, I kind of like it. It`ll make it very easy for a newbie to get around! At least they wont be pestering us anymore for directions!

Hey what about the new ledge in the ramproom? I think it`ll make for some very tough to remove sentrys! Ya, and a good place for some hard to see Pipebombs, Im sure that Sheepman will just love that.

Once again...To damn light...I know I`m fixated on the darkness but I do my best work in the dark...speaking as a father of 3! With all the new technology available in the Half-Life engine we might see a future version of 2FortX with built in working light switches. Ill be sure to keep them on though.. I don't want you getting confused and get friendly with the wrong person!

To the Elevator!

OK, I know I said I like the signs, but I found myself reading more than Fraging (just kidding) Really I think their pretty cool, I remember the first time I got the flag in the Rock...I tried to bring it to our base! You did what? OH! come on Mango I know you had to have made the same mistake too! LOL!! QUIT LAUGHING!! Maybe its a good thing to have those signs, they will come in handy for all those people that don't read the readme file!!

Down to the Flag!

Again more signs...I get killed every time I stop to put on my glasses to read em!!! Now this spiral rules, its taller, feels wider, and Mango, the lighting ,it`s OK!! Well I love the looks of it, but you know I miss the low ceilings, I liked to shoot my rockets into the low ceiling behind the heads of the enemy for the blast damage effect, but at least this wont be so much of a soldiers map anymore.

Again with the signs! Mango, The basement lighting is also good! Old familiar feel to the basement, well till the elevator shaft anyway! which by the way I think looks much better in TFC! I agree! And you can still Grenade jump up the shaft!
 

One Flag ...RUN!

Low and behold the Flag! Now Mango I think labeling the flag with that sign is a bit to much! I also have`nt decided whether or not I like the rock wall in there! The glowing effect on the Flag is cool though! I like how the Rock is woven in and out of the walls and ceilings in the basement, I think it adds a bit of character to the map, maybe this way the basement defense wont be so bored.

Mango The view from up here is Great! It has a real outside feel to it, much more so than QW 2Fortx. Although the water coloring reminds me of swamp water! The bridge seems narrower also! Maybe its just that the sky is wide open now, and making everything looks so small..not the boring flat blue like in all the other 2Fort maps.

One thing I do like Mango is the amount of rounded edges in the map. And here we go again another sign! Time to get my glasses out again, what's that say? Oh! "Capture point" Bah! I took the flag to that sign many times and I never capped at all!

Oh and they did manage to get the shadowing fairly good inside there...still not dark enough for me though!

Last but not least, the water entrance! Now they have these clearly marked with colored lights! Mango, that's to much! There's been many a time I`ve been blown into the water, swim the entrance, climb out just to find that I swam back to my base!!! Doooh! Cisco, most of the time im flying over the water, not swimming in it! Oh come now Mango, don`t tell me you`ve never done that!! Well, maybe when I was under the effects of a concussion grenade or something ;]

 

OK Mango some final thoughts on this map!

1) It`s very well made and complements the feel of the original !

2) The texturing is fantastic, the flow is exactly like the original also.

3) Rounded walls, cool, enough said!!

4) I have to give this map a BIG! Thumbs up!!


Well Cisco I have to say that I agree with you on this one..

1) The textures do so much for this remake, its more real now.

2) The additions of turrets in the respawn rooms will do wonders to wipe out campers!

3) Rounds walls mmmmm... just like the new corner bead in my house!

4) IMO.. This map gets a Thumbs up!!
