For right now (and with the time constrictions) I will be addressing Pipe traps, Pipe/Gren bomb usage, Pipe Jumping and det pack usage
Pipe Traps
Pipebombs- First off, pipe-bombs are the key to any type off effective defense. You need to learn some simple rules of thumb while using these devices for defensive traps. As even now some of the best fall for em. The rule when setting a pipe trap is to put it just around a corner, so they don't see it till its too late /=0)
A great trap is in 2fort5. You stand in the middle of the room, and lay pipes at the following highlighted locations, when the enemy comes around the corner, BOOM! heh
(for some reason my quake is too dark so I had to explode the pipes so you
could see, also sorry for the bad highlighting jobs =( )
Here's another example, pip'in the staircase......
Here's one last example, guarding the Ramp Room...
Kinda a pre-emptive strike
Using Pipe bombs is basically guessing where your opponent is gunna be... Don't be blatant in where you lay your pipes, I guarantee the more discrete you are with pipe traps the more kills you'll get.
Pipe/gren launcher
Using pipes is far more effective than use grenades in battle, but that's in just some situations. For instance, dealing with scouts or pyros or snipers, which is in-your-face combat generally use your gren launcher, because the pipes wont explode on contact and they take to long to detonate.
For anything else use your pipe launcher, unless your teammates are using them for traps.
If you need to switch fast I like to use quickweapons they are VERY effective in emergency situations
here's a sample config:
alias quickweapon1 "impulse 6;bind x quickweapon2" // Pipe Mode
alias quickweapon2 "impulse 7;bind y quickweapon1" // Gren Mode
bind x "quickweapon1" //Alternates
The easiest way to disperse of an enemy is to throw pipes on either side of them making it impossible to move without getting hit (or front and back).
One crafty little trick is to give em the double whammy (for experienced users) You prime a grenade (I use primeone, +gren1 is not all that safe) and time it just right or use the gren timing sound.
here's a sample config:
bind z prime2 // Primes your 2nd greande
bind y prime1 // Primes your 1st grenade
bind x throwgren // Throws the greande
alias prime1 "primeone;wait;play gren"
alias prime2 "primetwo;wait;play gren"
You need this file (place in /fortress/sounds)
then when the time is right, hit your pipe launcher, throw the gren and RIGHT as the grenade explodes, explode your pipe. It knocks off health BIGTIME!
Pipe Jumping
This is rather easy, lay a pipe, jump over it, while in mid-air directly over the pipe, hit +detpipe
Here's a demo of me pipe jumping, using the walls as rebounding.. and acting like a pure idiot =)
Det-packs
Using the detpack is all about timing, you dont time it right and you have wasted a detpack, which you cant get back untill you die
heres a neat detpack time selector:
alias "det250" "impulse 168;wait;impulse 250"
bind z "det250"
alias detfiv "bind x +det5; bind y detfty; echo 5 sec Detpack"
alias dettny "bind x +det20; bind y detfiv; echo 20 sec Detpack"
alias detfty "bind x +det50; bind y dettny; echo 50 sec Detpack"
Y=selector key, X=laying the detpack selected
Detpacks come in 4 flavours, 5 seconds, 20 seconds, 50 seconds, and 250 seconds
Like I said using your detpack is all about timing the opponent and predicting where he will be in the next 5, 20, 50, or 250 seconds =)
Happy Hunting!

P.S. YES there will be more to come I just didn't have time FOO!
