Frequently Asked Questions

Below is a list of frequently asked questions and their answers.

When I try to connect I get error 10061 - Connection forcefully rejected, what does this mean?
This error comes up if the machine you are connecting to does not have the Remote-X server running on it, you could have typed the IP address wrongly, or the person running the server does not have the Remote-X server loaded.

Why is the server not giving me all its information? I get the names and times of players in the player grid, but not the class or team, also I cannot chat to players, what's wrong?
This problem occurs if the server running Remote-X does not have the server DLL active, the quick solution is to reinstall the server software and it will be corrected, if you would rather do it manually, see the help files or contact me for one to one help.

Can I run multiple RX servers on one machine?
No, sorry Remote-X does not currently support multiple servers on one machine.

If I have Remote-X on my server can I use bots?
Yes, go to your Half-Life directory and find the file called "remotexdll.cfg", change the DLL name in that file to the name of the bot DLL, make sure the bot is installed and run the server.

Can I use admin_mod with a server running Remote-X?
Yes, the installer can sets RX up to use admin_mod if you click "yes" when it asks you if you are using admin_mod. If you install admin_mod at a later time, reinstall the RX server or edit the "remotexdll.cfg" file and change the DLL name to "metamod.dll", save, then run the server.

Can I change how frequently data from the RX server is sent to the clients?
Yes, change the rx_infopulse CVAR on the server to the number of seconds between data updates, minimum is 1, maximum is 8.

Does Remote-X work with listen servers?
Listen servers are not officially supported, however in testing I have had a Counterstrike listen server running Remote-X comfortably. The only servers officially supported are Win32 Dedicated servers.

Does Remote-X work with Linux?
The Remote-X Client works under WINE, the server has not been tested with WINE. As for a true Linux port there is not one available at this time.

How do I make scripts for Remote-X?
A scripting help file is included with the server application.

When I try to connect I get client/server mismatch error, what is this?
This means your server and client versions are not compatible, download the latest from the website.

Can Remote-X support multiple admin connections?
Yes, Remote-X supports up to 50 admin connections at once.

Does Remote-X require any 3rd party mods for its special functions?
Absolutely not, Remote-X can work with such mods, but in no way are these mods a requirement, Remote-X is a completely self sufficient program.
