TF History: [FA] WDA
As told by [FA]
WDA
Hmm... Again another toughie.
Where do I start.. Well DOOM is probably the best place. I started playing
FPP games on a 386 20 MHz with 4 megs of RAM. Doom scared me shitless.
Not to mention the fact that I was appalling. Keyboard only I'm afraid.
I moved from DOOM 1 to DOOM 2 as soon as it was released at soon after
got my first taste of multiplayer action. Near where I lived 4 people set
up a server and had a day of D2 playing. It rocked, I got my arse well
and truly kicked and got the first ever BFG Junkie Award :)
It was only natural that
when Quake appeared I bought it. I originally started playing on the internet
on UK servers now long gone [sniff!], under the guise of the infamous PLAYER
[change your name.. how the hell do you do that?!]. Well with my ping of
700 and a still all keyboard control I got kicked. I silently left the
scene a few months later.
BT's Wireplay was my savior.
I joined their beta test program and was on low ping servers getting kicked
at Quake, but I didn't care. Over the next few months I started using the
mouse and built up a bit of a reputation as ()zE, although once again I
left the MP scene and drifted into obscurity. I rejoined Wireplay about
1 -> 2 years ago and got playing Q2. Although a 100 MHz machine was cack.
Upgraded to 200 MHz and 32 megs of ram voodoo 1 and all was great again.
Now under WitchDr. Ash I decided to commit myself to a clan. I was grabbed
by the Night Lord clan, a Q2 only clan. I played, and still do, play for
them on Q2, but I disappeared from the Q2 scene for about 3 months because
of a strange patch, Team Fortress. I played it once (by sheer accident)
and I was hooked. Being a natural sniper I chose that class (the fact I
wasn't any good didn't deter me for a month), I moved onto Demo-man and
Scout after that, followed by Engineer and Medic. I'm an all round player
with no real amazing skills in one particular area.. except with grenades,
I've always been good at judging angles and can hit people with grenades
quite happily, much to the bane of the people I play with at college!
I went clan hunting in TF
on WP, but it all went pear shaped. 2 clans really ruled TF there, the
others would last for a week and collapse, so I played as a clanless wonder,
and still do. I have now joined another Q2 clan set up by a few friends
the Fallen Angels [FA] at college, our main rivals the Urban Storm (don't
ask!), we've got Half-Life running, not well yet! I'm working on it, as
soon as TFC comes out the game changes from Q2 => HL.. and that's it!
