PlanetFortress' Survival Map Pack Series - Servers
Server admins, I need your help more than anyone. Do download this map pack and start putting some of the maps in your rotation. It doesn't have to be all, but some. When you do that please put this pre-edited (or use your own) motd text to help us with promotion of this pack. We have a GameSpy Tab ready for download that will search for servers who are currently running of the of Survival Pack
maps, or use the Survival Pack as part of their rotation, but advertise the Survival Pack by ideally having: "Running The Survival Pack | www.planetfortress.com/survival/" (without quotes) in their server name. I say ideally because I don't want to force that long of a string attachment to the server name, but please put some mention in your server name for the Survival Pack. The tab just looks for the word Survival, so do
work it in somehow for your benefit, and ours.
Make sure to grab the .res files and place them in your tfc/maps/ directory. These files will allow clients to download the .bsp and all other files needed to play on the map your running.
Doing those small things will make this pack a success. Players are eager to switch to new user made maps, it can be done. And make sure you tell your fellow server admins to run this pack!
Finally, make sure to give Vote and the MapManager (included) a try. You'll find them to work great, the map manager comes with complete instructions and help files. People love playing on vote, it's way better than the console voting system (not that that is bad, but Vote is just that much more fun).
