| Though you have pretty low health
and armor, you have a devastating weapon, the sniper rifle. It takes some
mastering, but once you get the hang of it then results can be pretty effective.
If you hold down your fire button for a couple of seconds, the rifle is
charged up and you can take out any class with a fully powered shot (though
to take out a HWGuy this has to be a headshot. Your main purpose is to
take out enemies from a distance, whether they're attacking or fleeing
with your flag. However, when the rifle is charging or fully charged, you're
movement speed is greatly reduced so you should bear that in mind.
Remember though that you are the number one target for enemy snipers - it's like a personal vendetta and sniper wars can be tremendous fun if you have the right attitute. The sniper is often the most abused class though. Due to the recent patch, sniping has become much easier and if you have a low ping it is easier still. This makes it very attractive for people who just want to rack up kills - as I see it, the primary role of a sniper is to defend your team from enemy snipers. The SECONDARY role is to defend your base. However, you will often see, on public servers, a team of eight or so consisting of 3 or 4 snipers per team. This happens especially on 2fort - this basically ruins a game - it becomes deathmatch and the point of the game goes out of the window so please don't do it. In addition, if you come up against a better sniper who constantly takes you out then just accept that they are better then you. If they have a better ping then it gives you an excuse to make yourself feel better by blaming that but JUST ACCEPT IT - all too often I see snipers changing to engineers or soldiers and just spamming enemy snipers constantly to get back at them. If you're guilty of this then STOPPIT - just change class and add something to the game - attack or defend but do your bit towards the team effort. I hope I don't seem too down on snipers - it is a fun class to play and in certain situations can help your team but play it as it is meant to be played and if your team already has a couple of snipers just play a different class, don't go sniper just for the sake of it. |
