Unmask Enemy Spies
This has to be my favourite class in TFC. Your main skills are the ability to disguise yourself as enemy and friendly classes. In theory, this gives you the ability to run around enemy bases at your leisure, doing pretty well anything you want. In practise however, this is not as easy as it sounds. The vast majority of players will be well up on spys so a skill you'll develop is how to blend in. This skill sounds simple but it can take a while to work out how to do it.

Firstly, you should make sure you're not spotted as a spy by the enemy leaving your base or approaching theirs. If you are spotted, then you'll get a lot of unwanted attention as it's likely enemies will warn each other of your approach. So, before leaving your base change to a class on your OWN team like a medic - a medic leaving your own base is unlikely to attract much attention - don't change to an enemy class as a red player running out of a blue base may as well have SPY tattoed on their forehead.

Secondly, when you are close to the enemy base, find somewhere to hide or feign death and change to an enemy class. A good class to use is an engineer - they're the class that'll hang around the base, popping outside now and again to see what's going on. Then behave as that class would behave. A sniper wouldn't hang around the flag, they'd be out on battlements sniping - a HWGuy would hang around defending a flag but when you run, you run at a spy's speed, not a HWGuys and a fast running HWGuy will arouse suspicion very quickly.

Finally, act as if you belong in their base. Don't run directly for the flag - pick a class that would be running past the flag, ie a sniper running from respawn to the battlements on Badlands and do what they'd do, taking the opportunity to have a quick look for sentries on the way. Check your route out is clear then grab the flag and run. You have the wonderful skill of being able to run past enemy sentries without them shooting at you. If they'll trouble you on your escape, take them out.

You don't lose your disguise when you throw grenades though you do when you shoot or use your knife. This is an important point to remember as as soon as you lose you disguise you'll be vulnerable to sentries. Remember too that you can feign death - do this without anyone noticing and you can hang around seeing what's what with relative impunity. This is also a good time to change skins. However, when you are feigning people won't be able to walk over you, they'll bump into you so don't feign in narrow passages or commonly used routes. You cannot unfeign when someone is standing on you and they have the great pleasure of taking you out at their leisure. You can look around while feigning though people will see a "dead" body spinning around and draw the obvious and correct conclusion. Feigning can also be used as a last resort when you come across a fatal situation like being caught in the open by a HWGuy - feign death and drop an ammo pack at the same time - it's possible, though pretty unlikely that you'll fool them into thinking they've killed you, especially if you're disguised at the time. This is unlikely to work against anyone but the newest players but it's worth a try.

Another thing to remember is that you have the skill to unmask spys. This is very useful when your def is struggling to keep hold of a dropped flag - a demoman may have it guarded with pipes but a spy can easily run in and grab it if the demoman is unwary. If there is anyone behaving suspiciously around your flag or sentries just bump into them. Any spy will be unmasked and your team mates will thank you for it. It may be useful to tell them what your up to though, as your behavior may cause confusion or suspicion.

Another fun trick to play is to disguise yourself as an enemy medic and go and hang around in their base - when someone calls you over stab them - it never fails to crack me up.

Overall, this class is tremendous fun to play and very good at getting into well defended places. Just work in your skills at "belonging" and being in the enemy base without arousing suspicion - it's very satisfying when you get the hang of it and lets you be a force to be reckoned with.
