After lying dormant for a couple of seconds this leaps about a foot into the air and fires out nails for four seconds then explodes. Classes with lower armor will be damaged by the nails then finished off by the final explosion. Fortunately the damage radius is quite small. If you end up next to it the damage from the nails can be as high as 100 units per second while if you're a few feet away you will remain relatively unscathed.

They are quite effective as room clearers as most classes have to get away to avoid being killed. They can be effective against sentries too. However, any clued up engy will crouch on the opposite side of their sentry to the grenade, duck, and spanner away madly, repairing their sentry faster then the grenade damages it. The odds are, though, that the final blast will take them out so if their sentry's still standing you've got another chance to take it out.
