There are two ways of using this weapon. The first is to lay traps is heavily trafficed areas. Drop a few of these (8 maximum) and wait. Any enemy wandering past can be blown away (detonate these using your "special" key). If your flag is vulnerable lay a spread of these around it and you have an instant defence. You can also use these as attacking weapons - fire them and press your "special" key when you want them to explode. If timed correctly you have a weapon almost as good as the 40mm bomb launched by the machine gun in Half-Life (which I miss sorely in TFC). Make sure you can tell the difference between this and the grenade launcher when you're holding it - the sights are lowered with this weapon, raised with the grenade launcher.

You can use this weapon to pipebomb jump also. Fire a pipebomb then stand next to it slightly in the direction you want to go. Jump then detonate it while you're still rising. You can get pretty good height doing this though the damage inflicted can be quite high. I find this technique particularly useful in 2fort where the flag is often dropped near or at the top of the spiral ramp. You can hop up onto the enemy grating just inside their base and get the flag and be gone before they notice as they're unlikely to expect you to enter their base from that direction.
