Weapons
Weapons. Pick yours, and head out into battle. The weapons you get depends on the class you play. In general, the heavier the class, the heavier / more powerful the weapon.

Every weapon has its advantages and disadvantages. A relatively lowly nailgun can take out a sentry in a few seconds but can be pretty useless against heavier classes. Some weapons work better at distance, while others are meant for close up use. A rocket launcher can be inneffective against a fleeing scout, though changing to a shotgun can make you a lot more effective. Nothing runs faster than lead shot.

You should get to learn your weapons well. While compiling the data on this site it was very interesting to find out exactly how much damage certain weapons do. I recommend you read up on this - it might adjust your style of play - it has mine.

This is what all the data in the tables means...

Capacity

This is the max ammo this weapon can carry if it carries ammo internally, ie the shotgun, or the max ammo you can carry for this weapon, ie the railgun.

Reload Speed

This is the time it takes to reload the weapon from completely empty to completely full. There are some weapons that you reload by getting more ammo such as the assault cannon. For this reload speed is irrelevant, hence N/A.

Damage Per Second

This is calculated using the max capacity of the weapon and the shots per second. It does not take account of the reload speed, it is simply the damage per second the weapon is capable of from full magazine to empty. With weapons such as the grenade launcher it assumes hits to the damage quoted it the maximum. With the sniper rifle there are two values quoted, the first applies if you fire immediatly you can, the second is the max power of the sniper rifle.
