The Lpb/Hpb issuse is something that isn't going to disappear until everyone is on an OC3 and lanned to servers. I have been playing tf for a long time, since nearly the beginning (i still have all the old tf skins and models) and i was Hpb up until about 2 weeks ago when i moved and got a cable. So my opinion on the subject is somewhat fresh.

Being Lpb DOES improve your game play, being LPB DOES give you an advantage over hpbs. Game play is improved mainly because you can react faster and the game is more "realtime" as you are recieving from the server faster.

Hpbs don't have this advantage and must use skill and experience as their weapon. Now don't get me wrong, i am not saying lpbs don't have skill or experience, But in all truth hpbs must work so much harder for results in a match or pub. Its just that being Lpb gives you more potential and room for expansion on your skills. When i first became Lpb, it felt like a floodgate had opened and all skills were hightened.

I can already see the flames from Hpbs saying how they own servers all the time and ping means nothing. Well the chance of you joining a game and NOT seeing a Lpb on the top of the heap is pretty slim now adays. I know how Hpbs feel, i was one for nearly 3 years. I remember the bitter feeling as some hotshot Lpb joins the server with 10 minutes left and cleans up. But you gotta remember, being Lpb doesn't automatically make you own, you gotta have the skills first. So remember that before you yell out "all ping".

As for Lpbs sniping all the time. Its obvious why they do, its the class most effected by having a low ping and i imagine they enjoy killing with one shot and its the easy way for a Lpb to chalk up a huge frag count and most likely own the server. I know, some Hpb snipers are extremely good as well, Ciab-Livid is a good example. But even the best Hpb sniper can't compare to the better lpb snipers.

Although Lud was wrong, not all Lpbs snipe or enjoy it. I for one hate it. I enjoy the thrill of the dogfight, the close encounter battles where skill determines the outcome (before you snipers freak, i know you have skills and have to do close battles from many campers). But snipers don't use the same skills when sniping as compared to any other class. Anyone who plays sniper or another class knows this.

This is my opinion on sniping (this is were i will get the flames from). "Sniping is the recourse of a weak tf player", this my old bitter Hpb self that i still cling to. Its no fun when your doing alright on a server and everyone is having a fun game then all of a sudden some .K sniper or the like come on a just waste everything and everyone. The sniper is the most unbalanced class in TF without a doubt. I know everyone has been on a server where you can't get across the "bridge" (since every map seems to have one somehow). No other class can slaughter so quickly without having to nail/mirv spam a respawn. Some people i have seen can frag quickly and not be sniper, but nothing compared to a really good sniper.

Of course those snipers work hard through alot of camping and shit to get there and i am sure we all respect it. But in the end, snipers are too effective and make games less enjoyable for others. Especially in pubs.
