What Is TF Stuff? |
 |
What, exactly, is TF Stuff. This is certainly a good question, one that I'm sure pops into the minds of most newcomers
to the site. TF Stuff is a great deal of different things and difficult to sum up into one, all-encompassing phrase.
Let me make an attempt, however. TF Stuff is a central gathering point for all of the modifications to the Quake and
Half-Life multiplayer modification, Team Fortress.
Confusing? That might have been. Let me give you an idea of what you're going to find here at TF Stuff. There are
hundreds of files, all of which edit Team Fortress in one way or another. There are skins to make the classes look
different, mdls to change the look of weapons, sounds to aid your hearing, and more. In most cases these are made into
a collection and placed into something called a PAK file. (However, when the Customization Station is up and running
once again, you will be able to download individual pcx/mdl/wav files.) PAK files are what Quake and Half-Life use
as their data for the game. In both games, you name the PAK in sequential order. Therefore, if there is a pak1.pak
and a pak2.pak, then on your new pak you name it pak3.pak. Get it?
The art of shaping your own personalized PAK takes some time to learn; no one is an expert immediately. It is not the
most difficult thing to learn, either, so don't feel as if you've alot of studying time ahead of you. The key is to
enjoy yourself. That's what TF Stuff is all about. Enjoying TF to it's full potential. It's your game, and
it should look how you want it to, right?
