*Beep* [0021 EDT / July 29 / Update: Lord Bishop]
I had something funny to say I once thought, then I woke up. Sorry my creativity is REALLY lacking tonight. I thought I might update the page as it's been a few days. Actually I'm at Katie's and I needed something to do. Yea that's the ticket. I added something new to our downloads page tonight. I whipped up a custom GameSpy tab for our maps. So if your interested in a quicker way to find our maps being played then get it here. I know at least us here will use it so it's worth it to me. Besides once we get more maps out it will make life nicer for whoever cares to search for our maps. Obviously I will update it as needed. In other news...I made some progress on our new map. It's turned into a group project here now. VorTeX is slated to make a custom sky environment and at least a handful of other textures once he returns, which should be some time much later today. Maybe we will actually get this map done in a quick manner. Well at least one can hope. Ok I'm sinking here fast so before I drown I'm out.
Whheeee!!! [2340 EDT / July 24 / Update: Lord Bishop]
Am I a good director or what? I finally got people to round up their works and show their faces around here. Not to worry as summer draws closer to an end activity will increase more. Speaking for myself solely, once I start school again any reminants of a social life wither up and blow away. Which loosely translates into I'm online a TON! To make matters worse, or even better if you view it that way, I'm on a network at school and I'm technically online always so my presence can be felt at all times. So onto the latest greatest news that only Akula and I know of to date. SCarton is in NC as I said before and VorTeX's relatives have surfaced from the depths of god knows where so he's DNE (does not exist) for the most part for the first half of this week. So they haven't gotten to hear this oh so great news yet. What is it you ask? Dying of anticipation? I bet not but I can wish just the same. Akula and I have decided to do a joint map. I find it fun to work with others on some projects at times so I thought I would give a hand at it with Akula. Besides I have one kick ass idea for about half a map and no clue what to do with the rest. And on top of that we all know Akula is one kick ass dude at maps already. So it should be quite the adventure for us. As the luck of my life would have it. I have yet another fly buzzing me while I'm sitting here agian. I'm home like once every couple days and of course on all those days the stinking flies have to come and mess with me. It will die tonight I swear by it!! I need a day job, geez...
Progress... [0255 EDT / July 24 / Update: VorTeX]
Well.. work continues on STQ here and there... I have a semi-working basic gameplay test done... it's pitiful how little I know of C++ and even more pitiful how little I can do... In other news I've started a TFC map to do whenever I feel like formatting my hard drive after I make another lame newbie error in coding... which happens twice a week now.. so a lot of work will probably get done :) Other than that... we're working on getting this page in shape (dropping those bluky frames and non dynamic menubar) and readying it for hosting somewhere nicer... Not to brag.. but all the graphics on here (save the screenshots) are by yours truly.. so if you like/hate them don't be shy to drop me a line... VorTeX out.
Rollin Rollin Rollin... [1033 EDT / July 22 / Update: Lord Bishop]
Some days wonders never cease around here I swear. Not only do we have an update by Akula but we have two updates in one day. And not only that but we have a bunch of new stuff on here. I finally got around to posting a small preview of my upcoming map Dethwell. Some day I hope to get back to actually working on it. But such is life when your me. You *should* notice a slight rework of the webpage as it has no frames now. It wasn't my idea and I didn't support it but nor did I try to fight it. When it's 3 votes in favor of VorTeX's new design, regardless of what I would have voted, it wouldn't have mattered. So I live with it and hold true to my title. I've had a hand in everything to date on this web page I tell you. I finally actually got to do HTML work for the first time aside from news updates. Mostly just repetative work as almost all of the pages have been created so it's just a matter of reusing them. Though I was the lucky one to take VorTeX's work with the frameless design and implement it on all the pages and get the links working right. That I volunteered for actually but it was due to the fact I wasn't on my own computer so I couldn't do much anyways but I'll digress right quick here. We did add one new page which I got to create myself and is my only original web page work on here to date. We still got a few new things to add here and there but nothing hugely major right now. Though with us something new is always up our sleves, just depends if we get it to materialize or not. SCarton is down in NC for a two week LAN party. Must be nice eh? I thought so too. I'm stuck here with my own LAN but the problem lies in I still am stuck on a modem so you gotta have people here to play with them and that is a problem in itself. Maybe I can beat VorTeX into submission and get him to show his face around here again. Now wouldn't that be slick? Is sleep your friend? It's not mine lately. I've been up since oooooh...2:30 pm or so yesterday. Which is fine with me cause I've been able to sit and do something rather productive most of the night. Excuse me I must go get my shotgun as this fly has been pissing me off for some time tonight. *Lord Bishop leaves the room and never returns*
Citadel32 Hits the Streets! [0454 EDT / July 22 / Update: AKULA]
It's true! After many months of work ZFP's latest map "Citadel32" is now ready for the masses. Head over to the downloads page and grab it!
When I have a clear idea I'll start work on another map soon, but unlike valve I won't set any release dates anytime soon (this shit isn't easy).
Wahoo!!! [1826 EDT / July 20 / Update: Lord Bishop]
WE LIVE!!!! Yea but more importantly, it's BatMaNGaL9's, aka Katie, BIRTHDAY!! Wahoo!! Happy Birthday Katie! I love you bunches! Now that I got that out of my system...we are still here. Believe it or not we've actually been working on the web page in the past few days. We are getting it prepared to move to a new home. I know we are seem slow but we are accomplishing somethings around here. I haven't updated cuase the time I am home I want to work on the projects of mine. Which I'm home like once or twice a week anymore. The other day I almost spent an entire 24 hours straight at home. That's the longest I've been home at one time in weeks on weeks. Akula's new map is damn near finished and should be up by this weekend at the latest. My map is progressing slowly but I'm probably nearing 75% complete. Vortex is doing a handful of little things for the most part but all are useful so it's all good. SCarton has a few things to do with the web page but he's not here until probably tomorrow. So no biggie. Anyways quick update from me today. I gotta go eat some cake before we leave for dinner. Yea I know ass backwards but I haven't eaten all day and I don't want to eat a lot before we go out to eat. Besides we won't be there for a while longer cause we gotta go do some stuff first. So yea...outta here I go. Have a wonderful day with your new computer Katie.
What's This? [0310 EDT / July 1 / Update: Lord Bishop]
Well it appears we are having a little bit of activity around these parts suddenly. If you are to believe everything you heard you would think it was cause I was beating the staff senseless. Well guess what? You are right sir (or ma'am, whatever the case may be). If there is one thing I can do in life, it's getting people motivated to do their work. Too bad I have a motivation problem myself but I digress. Work for my current map is getting...well no where! The harddrive I am currently using in this computer is FUBAR'd and needs to be replaced so I can't install much more on it. Though in turn I don't want to destroy everything on my other harddrive which is to contain linux so I can use it in this computer just for the time being and then have to go back and redo everything again. So moral of this story is...is...um hrm...is there a moral to this one? You know I really gotta stop updating this page in the wee hours of the morning. Seems to be adversely affecting my content. In case you haven't noted. You see any news from me yet in this update? No, me neither. I like when people pick on the IRC channel I hang out in. Usually only 2 or 3 people in there at a time. So people start picking on us etc for not having a ton of people just hanging out in our channel. So for once I go wandering on over to this one clans channel I'm friends with. As always there are a ton of people in there but wouldn't you know it, in the entire time I've been there not ONE word has been said. So my rebuttle is this. Maybe we aren't a popular place to hang out (which is how we want it anyways) but at least when we are there we talk damn it!! And not only that but most amazingly enough, it's usually constructive and semi-intelligent conversations. So shuffling through my mess I have this news to report. AKULA is alive once again (as apparent by the update of his), VorTeX is obsessed with N64 roms for a few days so no work from him, and SCarton's attempt to do something productive with his online life (this webpage) has gone poof until I beat him to do something new, which should be soon. As for me hopefully I will find a spot to throw WorldCraft and Half-Life on this wacked out harddrive and get some work done on that latest map of mine. I hope to return to coding stuff once I get this map done. Though I got at least 2 or 3 more ideas for maps but I digress. So in the end...news doesn't exist but once again I make you think it does.
Whoa, Damn Man! [1331 EDT / Jun 30 / Update: AKULA]
It's about damn time I got around to writing this. Well, as you all should know I'm AKULA. Lord Bishop found me under some damn rock back in october when LoD was in need of an engineer. Since that day I've never quite left my friend's side. So I'm the third LoD member to join ZFP. You'll find me in the mapping section of Half-Life here. My first map out there on the Net now and I'm currently working on Citadels v2.0. You won't see too much of me here in the news section (the other guys are the big mouths here) and I'm too damn busy as it is. None-the-less I'll try to pop in here at times to say hi.
Fwap!! [0116 EDT / Jun 30 / Update: VorTeX]
Ok.. LB has whipped me enough (as is evident by the welts on my face and back).. so I've decided to add content to the site in the form of an update on what's going in my neck of the ZFP woods.. I have gotten, installed, and lightly played around with Visual C++ 6.. so I can begin to do some coding for Smear the Queer. I had already been doing work on a low gravity map for STQ but I had to stop production on it for one really important reason... low gravity + half-life weapons + jumping player = sitting (or in this case floating) duck... So it's going through a lot of changes and becoming a jumppad, canyon-style level. Other than that, all's quiet on the western front.. so I'll try to think up something to put up here to make this page a bit more exciting.. later..
Whoa News... [0503 EDT / Jun 29 / Update: Lord Bishop]
First off I'd like to start by saying Happy Birthday to my brother, though he doesn't really read online stuff I'm still putting it here cause I can and I like my damn brother. That said and done onto the next topic of choice. As you may notice there hasn't been an update since the day we got this up. Yea we are all pretty swift lately I must say. My personal reason is I got a new mainboard with a faster cpu to go with it last week. So I've been screwing with that off and on when I have actually been home which I must add hasn't been much in the last week. Something about spending lots of time with this wonderful girl Katie I know. Yea I'll be getting to the point when I'm good and ready. So last night was the first time I actually got the whole new set up with the computer to work well enough to get the hardware all reinstalled and working and got online for a whole 10 minutes. Today I *was* going to accomplish a bit more but I got caught up in a couple of games of Tribes with VorTeX. That game is much funner once you start to get the hang of it though I still think TF owns it all to hell but I digress. Ok so onto the point finally I do believe. I will have some new screenshots of my latest map up hopefully with in the next few days for your veiwing pleasure. VorTeX also has some shots around somewhere to show off what he's been doing as of late. So we'll get those up too. Akula reappeared tonight also. I was told he actually popped back up a couple days ago but as I've said I've been a ghost myself too as of late. Maybe he too will have some good shit to show us. (ha ha one can wish can't he?) So hopefully I will be around a little more again here soon. And I'll get the whips and chains back out and start beating everyone into submission so they got something to entertain the likes of you. Hopefully that covers it all and if not, oh well I'll get it another time. Oh yea one last note. Since I haven't gotten around to it yet (installing a better web browser) I'm crusing the web tonight with IE 3. I HIGHLY suggest you DO NOT try to view this page with it. It looks god damn aweful. Bleah...
Editors Note: If this sounds like lots of jibberish, it's probably because it is and it's hard to type when one is REALLY tired and can't see too straight.
Wait For Me! [0241 EDT / Jun 20 / Update: Lord Bishop]
Yes I know it's late (or early depending on your views) but I'm here anyways so get used to it. I had intended to update with other two but something *cough* important *cough* sorta came up. So I'm here to do my sworn duty now...or something of that nature. I feel obligated to mention VorTeX and SCarton in my update as they did me in theirs. If anyone gives a flying rats ass I have met both of them in person and they are both great guys. That said and done with I shall move along. Next up is Akula. Before you wonder who the hell, let me clarify for you. He is the fourth person of this little organization we got going here. He would 'introduce' himself if he was here but he's not so I'm doing it. Seems the boy has done another one of his infamous disappearing acts again. And moving right along I come to myself. I am would probably best be described as the 'director' of this group. I am NOT the leader by any means so I don't run or dictate what goes on around here. I just keep things moving along and smoothly as possible at all times. I wasn't voted to this spot or even given it...it just happened that way. I suspect that it's due to the fact I have little life away from the computer, especially once I return back to school in the fall. Ah well I say such is life and someone has to do it so it might as well be me. Besides it lets me slap around people once and awhile to keep the motivated. And yea SCarton is exaggerating, I didn't have to whip him a lot...just once and awhile. He learned well after the first few times. So for a little information on this group, etc. I thought I'd state this little fact. Really and truely, we don't make anything as a group here. Mostly we are here to promote each others work and help each other out to become better at what we do. We play test each others work or point out flaws in ideas or work, stuff like that. Now from time to time this doesn't mean that some of us won't work together (as VorTeX and I have already on Urban Escape). Which brings me up to my shameless plug for my current project. I'm currently working on yet another map, name not totally decided on yet. It's going to have one thing totally different then any other TFC map out there right now. What that is you are going to have to wait and see for the time being. Again I am working with VorTeX (pretty much a side project for him right now cause it doesn't require much time on his part). This time is slightly different though. See I'm designing the entire map myself and all that. What he is doing is making some of the textures for it I need. It is only going to have a handful of new textures (all made by him) but they are quite needed for what I want to accomplish. So hopefully that wraps it up for me. By the by...I have a tendency to have REALLY long posts. You've been warned!
Introducing VorTeX [2223 EDT / Jun 19 / Update: VorTeX]
Well.. it's the launch of our new site.. I guess it's time to tell you, the happy reader, about me, the crazy psycho game-editing guy.. Let's see.. I've been modifying games since before the release of Doom 2.. I've had a few maps here or there for just about every game I've played.. I've messed around with any game with an editor available.. just to see what I could do... I've worked on about 3 or 4 TCs that have come and gone.. one which switched its base game 3 times (from Doom 2 to Quake to Quake 2) and never came to bear results. I met up with Lord Bishop, co-founder of ZFP in the world of Team Fortress. I joined his clan in February of 1998 and the rest is history. We've made a 2 on 2 map pack for TF (Annihilation Wars, for a league that went bust due to lack of interest), I've started and not finished some 3 or 4 maps at least for TF as well.. We've most recently completed work on our Hunted map for the PC Gamer contest, Urban Escape. We've finally got it how we wanted it (a bit late for the contest though) and we're proud of the results of doing the joint effort on the map. My current project for Z Factor Productions is Smear the Queer, a mod for Half-Life in which one guy's got the ball and everyone else has got to frag his sorry ass. I hope that it proves to be as fun as I envision it to be. My current plans are for at least 3 types of gameplay (at least one of them teamplay) to be in the final product. You'll be certain to be seeing screenshots and other goodies from the development soon.. especially once I get my copy of Visual C++ 6.. So yeah.. I also make textures.. lots of them.. and some music.. and little bit of anything else that needs doing. I think that should about do it for now. Please keep on visiting our site.. we'll try very hard to keep the content fresh and the information coming.
Website Up! [2222 EDT / Jun 19 / Update: SCarton]
Hey all, web guy here. This page has been a while in the making, as evidenced by the whip scars on my back inflicted by Lord Bishop, but all appears to be set for now. As the contacts page says, I'm the web maintenance guy, and I'm trying to learn how to map so I can actually kind of fit in with the rest of these guys. I also have a musician's ear, but I'm not entirely sure what I can do with that in this context. I met these guys when they were in LoD for TeamFortress, and my clan (Legacy) had a match against them. LB hasn't stopped talking to me since (or is it the other way around?). Anyway, Carty out.
