My favourite level author is
Tim Willits of id.
John Romero's work has always impressed me as well. On the net I
think Neil Manke's work is outstanding and
original. Matt Sefton continually impresses
me with his depth of detail and flawless game flow. The Hive 1 and 2 by
Chris Mayers also rank among my favourites.
All of Wright Bagwell's levels have made a
great impression on me. I also like a lot of work by one time map makers,
it's not always technically sound but some of the ideas are really great
as well as enjoyable.
I'm
a real sports nut hockey and baseball
especially. I enjoy movies and I have an ongoing video collection I constantly
add to. Musically I like the old guitar pros like Clapton,
Dire Straits, The Stones.
Recently I have been reliving the joys of lego. Lego
was one of my favourite toys as a kid, now there are times when
I am building something with my son and he will wander off to go do something
else and I end up sitting there for 20 more minutes just building
away.

I think the Quake 2 demo was
very impressive. The monster animation's were excellent and the 3 levels
included with the demo were stunning. I know that the sound environment
was not for the finished product never the less I thought Americans sounds
were very well done. My only criticism of what I saw was some of the weapons
took up too much screen real estate.

The general Quake community is where I surf the most. My default URL in
Netscape is Quake 2.com. Other then
that not much. I occasionally drop into the Pingu
the Penguin sites with my son, he really enjoys that quite a bit. He
will see me working away at something then all of a sudden he will come
sit on my lap and say "Pingu puter?" At that point I lose control of the
mouse so if I see him coming I save all my open files real quick!
