The competitive event known as DuelMania,which is a 1v1
QuakeWorld bracket tournament has been busy deploying
strategically placed servers around the globe to attempt a first
of its kind world wide tournament.

There are over 40 signups so far!

Way too many details to list here about how this is being made possible,
but rest assured they have thought about nearly everything you could imagine!

I signed up, I am going to start playing 1v1 QW on over seas servers in the UK and further away, attempting to establish a baseline in the worse scenario possible, so I'm not caught off guard by this event.

Do they need any server's on the east coast of the U.S. such as Atlanta?

Sorry for maybe being a derp, but I didn't see anything about the date of the tournament. When does it take place?
