Hmm, I'd have to say Quake. I'm still fascinated, maybe because of the smaller levels, compared to the bigger ones from other games - where you can actually find players easily, they move around and talk and type back to you. It's silly to think like this in a modern time, but the classic design of Quake made a lasting impression on me and the simplicity yet complexity of the fun it offers.

So I would say, having a brief, hello and greet then going back to quaking. You said online.. I have to say that, this might be very rare, but I managed to get 2 telefrags when I spawned from one location to the other. I think the rarity of such an occurrence is very low and somehow I'm sorry, I didn't record it, because it was sooo cool. Like 1 in a million?lol But how would I have known..
The gemstone of gaming is Quake, so load it up and play some

I only ever got to play Blood in demo form. I'm looking forward to the Blood conversation that was being talked about to finally check it out.

I used to play Quake on Heat.net and Mplayer and those were free services if I remember right? I never got the chance to check out TEN. Was it expensive?

        Besides, in no particular order:

Playing Serious Sam 3 BFE: in one level I had an annoying Arachnoid somewhere shooting me with its hitscan weapon. After a little while I saw it while he was hiding beyond a wall.

A nice thing of SS3 are the destructible walls, so I used the Cannon to blast wall and monster in one shot. The satisfaction was immense.

Seven stating he played iq (my mod) and stating that e1m7 (The House of Chthon) was great.

Playing Quake DM online before it become an insane rocket jump fest.

Playing SP Quake, even nowadays. Thanks Spirit for Quaddicted.

Playing Serious Sam in general, but I noticed a lack of re-playability. The first time is awesome, but for some reason the re-playing not so much.

Playing various arcades in the '90. I spent quite a bit in Hammerin' Harry and many other games.
I love that part about point and click games with your friends. My friends weren't really into point and clicks so I played most of those alone. That sounds like a great time!

I also miss the arcade scene. There was this great skatebaording game that was at the arcade we went to that had the big skateboard in front of the huge screen and you went downhill. We played that a ton!

as for non quake, i have one specific memory. I am a metroid junkie. i was introduced with, ironically, the last game chronologically, metroid:fusion. i remember being at the end boss, and omega metroid. he reduces your energy to 1 unit with one mighty swipe. now, my child brain thought "well, i guess i didnt figure out how to beat him in time", due to the fact that no weapon or ability you had by that point would hurt him. then, to my shock, the main villian appears AND SACRIFICES ITSELF TO HELP YOU FOR NO REASON:

One of my favorite mods that came out for Quake 1 was Qball. It was playable on Mplayer.net as a built in mod and basically the quad turned into an item you had to carry but while you carried it you only could use the axe but you could only score points while holding it. Lots of team games with that and it was great!

Metroid is a great series with many great moments! Super Metroid's sounds used to scare me when I was a kid. Have you seen the new Metroid that's coming out? A lot of people are pretty pissed about it because it's only Metroid in name.

            2 telefrags at once? I don't think I've ever done/seen that!

I think that's why we all like Quake so much, there was just something to the design of it. It's simpler but it also hit at a time in the 90's when we were all thirsty for something more. And DM seemed to be what we wanted.

I'm with you on waiting to see how it turns out. I actually really liked the first Prime game though. As much as it may not have been completely Metroid, I thought that Retro did a good job of converting it to first person and trying to keep the characteristics and what not.
