  • Quake Champions, First Gameplay Trailer Released!

As promised from their E3 presentation, ID Software has released the first trailer of Quake Champions which shows off actual gameplay. Watch it below:

Not only do you get to see the gameplay but this trailer also confirms that Quake 3 character Anarki will be returning to the fight. What do you all think? Is this shaping up or are not feeling it?

    I'd buy that!
Is Romero involved with this game? If so, I hope he makes a little money off this one.

eyup.... it definitely looks like the definitinitive Q3Arena HD remastered redux edition,
just like it seemed like it was gunna be from the interview and the cinematic trailer.

so i still have exactly zero interest in this
        .
are you curious about what all there is out there in terms of HD content for quake?
        > then make sure to check out my 'definitive' HD replacement content thread! <
everything that is out there for quake and both mission-packs, compiled into one massive thread

It's definitely q3DM6, I was excited to see that though I guess I should've expected it. I'll place this here in case anyone is interested:

It looks great! The one thing I'm NOT feeling is the inclusion of MOBA-esque "champions". Playable characters with heavily varying play-styles/weaponsets. Similar to Overwatch. I much prefer a flat playing field in terms of weapon-sets.

                Lookin' good!

I look forward to playing it, hopefully it has options and different modes to pick. Including a straight up deathmatch mode without character variations etc, for the purists.

That said, even though I grew up on it to be honest I'm not a purist! I'll be happy to play with the wacky characters etc.

Meh.. Exactly as I thought from the PR and previous interview. It's still a disappointment and very far from a must by! If I didn't already know any better and saw that gameplay trailer I would guess its the last Unreal Tournament or next UT Alpha which is currently free for download. \_(ツ)_/

I'm diggin it. I love the idea of character variations, then again I love it in MKX too so that isn't surprising.

                    That eyeball is bitchin

I'm actually friends with a few of the people at id now. I can't give specifics because 1. It would be a dick thing to do to my friends and 2. I'd be thrown into a pit of lava and barbed wire, but trust me. This -IS- totally Quake.

The thing where they said the characters attributes are just "wrinkles" is not fluff talk. It's a little like how fighting game characters have some special moves/values but they can all punch/kick/uppercut/sweep. There's no class-based combat, no character/team specific loadouts or weapon limits. They're making it psychotically fast, bouncy, mean as hell and PC centric.

You know me, I really long for a traditional quake 1 single player grimdark lovecraftian romp, but the dudes working on this know what we miss from q3a and multiplayer Quake, they miss it too. Nobody over there is trying to make this into id's overwatch/battleborn/cod/tf2.

Sorry for not spilling any beans, just have a little faith in the hype <3

After this first gameplay trailer, it's apparent they are putting some work into this game and not just using the name for a buck. Tell them to keep up the good work and I can't wait to check it out when it's ready!

I'm interested. ID has been on a decent swing lately, with Wolfenstein and now this.
