Best Quake Multiplayer Game Type?

If you had to pick one type of game to play in Quake 1, which would it be and why?

RA. Because CA isn't always straight 1v1, runes are gay, and straight dm is nice but powerups are gay in DM imo, and not CTF because you have an objective keeping you from just killing people.

I like CA on custom maps only and love playing at Bomber (that Sanity map rocks), enjoy Rocket Arena a ton and dm.quakeone.com is very fun.

But I could only play those a hour or 2 before getting worn out -- notice that CA players do NOT live on servers all day -- you can't do that in CA, the play is too intense.

If I could only play a single Quake mod, I would choose Rune Quake. I haven't played it much in a couple of months, but I could play the E4 maps 365 days a year against 12 players and love it every single game.

In RA/CA/DM, you pretty much have to play to win.

In Rune Quake, you can play to win, or play to camp, to annoy or just observe. If you need to a break, you just can stop playing whereas in CA or RA it might kill a game (the obligation to play factor)

Have you played pure DM in Quake? You know the Quad respawns every 30 seconds, right?

The ONLY DM I play in quake is pure. And I dont play enough Quake to have a list of factoids scribbled on my wall.

More exactly, 30 seconds after it runs out. Every Quaker knows that :-) and I have a game clock running in Joequake, so guess what I like :-D

no joy is bigger than being the first to grab that quad :-) ppl sometimes bad-mouth players who keep timing the quad, RA, MH etc., but in my book it's just a basic skill. I mean, frogbots do it, why shouldn't I. (they really do, on DM6 you can count on several bots appearing just before the RA spawns.)

I like DM with powerups (except Pent), although I'm aware that most serious players switch them off. Hey, I'm no serious player, I don't bitch when I get quad-fragged. I say to myself "man I should have snatched it first." It doesn't last too long, so better luck next time. Also, a quad-bearer is not invulnerable.

same goes for the ring, it only spawns every 5 minutes. It's not too big a facor.

Runes; they require you to think outside the box. I can understand why some people dislike runes and call them gay, they've fried their brain cells too much and aren't able to understand them.

Well, I like pub ctf best, bigger games, faster starts, sometimes runes are on, and objective based gameplay. Pretty much its all other mods rolled into one.

Oh, and the hook is nice if u can master it

I say it's a tie between CTF and Runes. There is quite a bit of strategy to learn for each such as: how to react when your/their flag is taken or learning effects and effect combinations of runes.

I voted for ThreeWave CTF, however I voted because I have fond memories of ThreeWave >>>>>PUBLIC<<<<< CTF servers. Completely full quake.erols.com anyone? For pure fun value, I'll take a public 8v8 full rotation of the 3WCTF maps over any other mod and setting any day of the week.

I also don't think it's fair to split up CTF into two categories and label non-threewave the "pub" one. This poll is about favorite game type not favorite mod. By splitting up the CTF votes like this, you instantly take away its chances of winning this poll.

Another thing.. how in the HELL did Team Fortress get left out of this list?

COOP, DM, CTF, TF, RA, RQ, OTHER pretty much sums up what this polls choices should be.

I have a feeling that whomever created this poll started quaking around 1999.
