But, there is just as much SKILL involved into hooking as there is in aiming.
You actually do have to aim where u wanna hook to vs rj and air-strafing.

I can though, respect DM now after Lenny showed me the ropes and the DM guys are really respectful; i didnt get the usual get the f*ck out attitude. Its not as fast as ctf, but once u get over the run speed and the urge to rush rl, it can be enjoyable, even drunk

I love dm, just certain people have ruined it. Not mentioning names to avoid conflict, just know ill give it another go when i feel the time is right. For now CAx is my mistress and her sister will follow. CRCTF.

oH, ill teach u to play CTF like the best. Ur aim is already patient and on, u just need to learn the hook hop-hop scheme of navigation. CTF is so team orientated, where as DM is solo "im over here" broken down. Remember, ALL dm tactics apply to CTF its just a step over.

I remember what happened once when I nailed one of these hooking bunnyhopping queers with the haste rune and the RL a long time ago. (back when there were tons more players) They decided the haste rune was ' too powerful ' and instead of firing 2x fast, you now fire at a bartely noticable faster speed. Thats the kind of kiddie mentality you got running the ctf community still to this day. Anything that helps them is great....listening to critisizim - bah - Its been way too long like this to ever think they are gonna change things now. At best this is just some kinda crumbs they throw out there once in a while, then they abandon it, and go right back to the click they are running that is keeping the ctf community from growing.

Ever hear them voice a serious concern about how there are no players interested in the game anymore? Gee, could it be something they are dong ? Nah, no way. Their mark on this world is when they die, they squandered the true potential of the greatest netgame ever made. If theres one less thing young people can enjoy in this world, they did their job.

cobalt, i respect what your saying.

however as long as i can remember (start of crctf, excluding original ctf) we never used the runes. That went for clan matches and such. I'd say 95% of the time ring and pent are disabled as well. I've been playing ctf since 3.5 came out, the only time i remember runes was on public ctf servers, that of which i did not frequent. Its a shame you feel the way you do, I don't intend to try and change your decision. But really to go to name calling because someone changed how fast haste rune fires, I have to laugh at that.

Why not learn like the rest of us did, to play ctf as it is. Do you always need that little boost runes provide, or the old school runes ill say? Im not posting this to get into a tear down drawn out argument with you either, but i see you post here and there and maybe have rarely seen you play quake. If it really is that bad then I suggest a different game and or community.

Cobalt ur just mad no one plays your ctf bot server. Any changes made had nothing to do with you. Anytime there is a thread about CTF u troll on here like u can actually play.

Let's all turn our ticrates back to 10fps and ping up to 200 so Cobalt feels like oldschool, back when all he did was hook the ceiling and camp in corners of the base with the str rune!

The haste rune was reduced by 40% to reduce packet overflows though your nails travel x2 as fast. Ever wonder what haste does for the LG? Nothing, go figure. You are the kind of guy that once people start RJ'ing will code a way so they can't RJ. Bunny hopping is a method of gameplay used to sustain speed. It's not something coded specifically in the mod, but an adaptation of the player. If u wanna bawk at that then you really dont understand a player's perspective on gaming.

I left Quake for over 8 years before I came back recently. Reason I left was same crap like this...nothing to do with the game itself, more the people trying to control it with very narrow minds that dont interest mine in the very least. When I came back, oh yea, scant few may remember my server and the neat things I did with it.....as if to say ' welcome back ' but Im not back here because I am attracted to the ctf community. In fact it blows, and everyone in it knows thats how I view it anyway, so what if you dont like my server, I dont really care because Im not doing it because I admire you clowns or something or hope to one day get your approval on what I do or dont do....for all I care you can stay exactly where you are and do what you are doing for the rest of your life and not experience one single thing different, and thats your choice. Dont expect me to believe you will ever be anything different when so much time has passed and its clear anyone who points out how your activity has ruined things is now the cause of the entire problem, and not you.

Whens the last time you got people together and went to the old CTF Rum server and played traditional CTF the original way to show some respect / gratitude for the games origins? 2 years back I dug up as many old time players I could, and we got together there for some good times. But guess what? The bunnyhopping hook queers decided , yea, thats a good idea Cobalt, saw us all there and joined the game too. Next thing you know, the server experienced lag, and there were more annoying aholes there than I could remember from when back in the day it was bad. Would not surprise me if it was RUM itself wanting us to kiss their a$$ and tell them how great they are so we could play there without being annoyed.

We used to play together with McTarn when u called yourself Tekno[Skillz]+ circa 1998.

I dont understand your aggression as you weren't more than a pubCTF kid back then. I doubt you ever played a real CTF tourney.

The old 3wave way is basically lacking. They changed the game in q2 and q3 so dont even try to say I ruined the game.

People all left Quake originally because
a.> source code was released and cheaters abound,
b.> kids started playing counterstrike,
c.> quake3 came out and thats where the tourney$ were...

Changes I have made to CTF were actual positive changes that have sustained it, there have been 1000 games played on crctf for every 1 game played on that old RUM 3wave server. I code it as a player not as some kid wanting an advantage over the other players. Logical changes not some gay ass weapon mods or force-fields, etc. Your trying to bash something blindly, when in return makes u look ignorant.

Old games get stagnant, period. People will leave simply because they get bored. Minor tweaks that actually make sense, help keep the game moving forward.

You have had this attitude towards modern ctf players since u came back to the scene. I'm not sure what u were expecting, but your attitude is the negative one.
