  • Source Ports cause extra weapons to spawn and DirectQ doesn't work.

When I run the game through any sourceport the game spawns clusters of extra weapons and ammo in some places. Example. If I run glquake or WinQuake it doesn't happen but they have tons of other issues.

Also I think it doesn't happen in DirectQ as it didn't before I got a second monitor. But, after I did it causes my PC to stop outputting video, and I have to restart my PC.

Anyone have any idea on how to fix either of these issues?

Remove everything in the id1 directory apart from the pak0.pak and pak1.pak
    Use DirectQ or Quakespasm: https://www.quaddicted.com/quake/recommended_engines

PS: They are not called "source ports" but "engines" or "clients".

what you are experiencing is cuz of the fact you are starting a multiplayer game

these 'extra weapons' are only spawned in multiplayer games.

so the solution is simple: start a singleplayer game instead
      .
are you curious about what all there is out there in terms of HD content for quake?
      > then make sure to check out my 'definitive' HD replacement content thread! <
everything that is out there for quake and both mission-packs, compiled into one massive thread

          ah yes you're right spirit.

just tried for fun to start a multiplayer game cuz i thought those extra weapons were standard in MP games, but they indeed werent there in the map

          .

so in that case, yes make sure you have no extra PAKs in your ID1 folder other then pak0 and pak1 mezecs,
and check to make sure that there are no maps or ent-files in the ID1/maps folder which are called like ExMx (where x is the episode/map-number)
          .

Deleting all the .ENT files fixed it, thanks.
