  • JoeQuake GL flashing

Half of the time when I start JoeQuake GL I will press ESC to go the menu and it will flash on and off. The menu will keep flashing until I exit the program. Half of the time it does this and other times the menu comes up fine. Does anybody else have this problem?

I've never heard of this problem, but crazy things happen with video cards -- I wish it weren't so.

What video card are you using?

Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Display -> Settings Tab -> Shows the exact display adapter.

If it has the word "Intel" in the display adapter, I have a feeling there is no good fix. You can always try to update the drivers for your card by clicking advanced and update drivers on the settings tab, but beware -- updating video drivers is not a risk-free thing all the time.

OpenGL seems to work best with GeForce and Radeon cards, in my experience .

You also might consider posting this in the official JoeQuake forum

Wow. Thanks for the help guys. I really appreciate it. Unfortunatly it does say Intel in my graphic card even though it supports GL. It's a really weird thing. I started JoeQuake 5 times today without it happening and the 6th time it flashed. I guess I'll just deal with it for now. Thanks again.

P.S. I know this question isn't for this thread but while I'm at it. I just downloaded some skins for Quake 1. How do I get these skins to work? Or do they only work for certain servers for online play?
