That's quite a bit of work there.
The model and texture/skin should be ok but you would need to re-record the frames to match a players animations.
I'm surprised it hasn't been done before, It probably has, have a search around.

I remember trying this, still have too.

For Blender MDL import/export, there is a well working plugin downloadable here.

The trusty old 1996 way to do this is to use QME, a classic Quake model editor.

You will need to recreate all the animations the player model has in your new model (it will need to fit the original player model's frame groups exactly.) If you have some practice with Blender, that might be the easiest way - create a simple rig and just use keyframe animation to reproduce the missing frames.

the model is actually an md3, not an mdl
the file-extension was manually changed to mdl because that way DP can use it as replacement model

so you'll have to manually change the extension to MD3.
then you could use noesis to export it to dae or such which blender can read

btw it might be easier to use the original model instead of the quake-conversion by OoPpEe.
you can get the original files for Q3A from tabun's site here: Q-Forcer by Tabun

are you curious about what all there is out there in terms of HD content for quake?

gosh, that md3 rename thing is really weird. Oh well.

yeah its kinda odd how darkplaces requires models to have their format-extension to be renamed to mdl.
but it supports a whole bunch of model-formats and using any model in dp is made easy by the extension-renaming thing.

its still kinda weird, but it makes it easy

although if you want to edit a model made for DP you gonna have to try and guess what format the model really is,
which can be a real pain in the ass to have to try changing format-extension untill you can open it
                    .

gotta open the model file in a hex editor I guess and google around for the magic bits... unless DP itself can tell you what a model actually is. Which it probably can somehow.
