I'm in the process of building my own qrack pak. I am nearly done, all I need now are .md3 weapon models. (as seen in QMB, I took a look in the pak and couldant seem to find it) Of corse I would just steal from yellow's texture pack, but I really dont care all too well for those models. If somebody could plz direct me to a link to those QMB .md3 models, I'd greatly appriciate it. Also, I would like to add threewave ctf maps to my map pak but they dont appear to be here...

MD3 models in Quake are few and far between, there are greater variety of the .mdl type anyway.

Plague has some MD3 versions of his .MDL weapons, I don't see the advantage of using MD3 over MDL when the weapons look the same. Check the QMB web site listed under alternative engines on the left side of the page, I think it might come with much of that stuff.
You can download Neogensis's MD3 Quake models at http://openquartz.sourceforge.net/ but other than that, that's about it.
But it is a good learning experience.
It is inadvisable to be putting maps or anything else in a pak file. If you were making PK3 files, a superior form of pak files, that might be different.
The critical weakness of pak files are:
1. For textures, the ones in the pak file reign supreme trumping any other texture folder.
2. For anything in general, pak files are a headache to newbies who want to adjust things. Hydro had a hell of time last year using a rocket launcher skin.
3. They have to be renamed.
4. If you have existing files in a pak, you will probably be wasting hard drive space by having 2 copies of maps in some instances -- like having Aerowalk both in a pak file and in c:\quake\id1\maps
5. Quake only supports 8 of them.
6. Pak files work differently from engine to engine, DarkPlaces works differently, for example.
7. The only thing that trumps pak files is other pak files.
And that's just for starters. Pak files are generally not recommended for anything except a single player episode or mod using a -gamedir. It can help make a process of bundling files easier, in some cases, but at the expense of flexibility.
Yellow's CTF pak is a fairly good use of pak files. The pak0 that comes with Qrack and JoeQuake is an excellent use. Well, that's your opinion. I'd rather have teh 3 folders and the billions of other filders inside those 3 folders in a neat .pak file. I realize Darkplaces can read pk3, but Qrack cant (right?)
Besides, most of your, ehm, "pointouts" don't concern me. 8 pak files? My god, I'm only up to 5! I have maps, textures, and sound, what more do I need? I'll try to see if I can cram maps, textures, and sound into one big fat uberpak, lol
edit: about the #2 newbies thing. It's fairly easy to do. Its rather similar but not quite the same thing as burning cds.e|------------------------0---------------
