    What is MD3 for Quake exactally? Is it just a higher polygon count on 3D models?

    I'm not a good one to tell you all the differences between MDL and MD3, except that MD3 is what Quake 3 and other games use and can be more sophisticated (although I've seen some wicked looking .mdls like the lightning gun that comes with Tremor).

    I've not seen any good MD3 weapon models that look good with Quake *and* aren't available in MDL form.

    JoeQuake has some level of support for the Quake 3 Ranger (without gun, I think DarkPlaces can do this too, maybe even with the gun ... I'm not sure) and at QuakeWorld.nu there is a MD3 player model and it works with Qrack 1.60 for certain.

    But, that's just about the limit of my knowledge on that topic, mostly because I've seen .mdl forms of just about any model I really wanted to use (armor and such).
