  • Help with Quake on macOS Sierra

    Hello,

I installed Quake today on my old mac with Yosemite and everything worked fine (it was from the freequake section with Quake Shareware and Fruitz of Dojo GL Quake 1.0.9). When I tried to do the same thing on my mac with Sierra it gives me some kind of error regarding PowerPC application not being supported. I really liked how quake works on Yosemite, it seemed absolutely perfect. Is there a way to get the same thing going on Sierra? Thank you kindly for your help.

    Try Quakespasm instead : Quakespasm

or Mark V: Mark V - Quake Engine

    or even DarkPlaces: https://icculus.org/twilight/darkplaces/download.html

      Hello Icaro,

Thank you for your response. By chance, before seeing your response, I tried installing Quake X version 1.2.1 and it seems to be working. It uses the same icons and Fruitz of Dojo label. Is it the same thing as the TenebraeQuake? I tried installing the new version of TenebraeQuake, also 1.2.1, that i found on Sourceforge (the old version was the one I downloaded from this site under the Freeware section that gives you both Shareware and Fruitz of Dojo 1.0.9) but the TenebraeQuake 1.2.1 instead does not work. I'm confused. Are these the same applications under different names? Because they use the same icons, readme, etc and are both from Fruitz of Dojo. Anyways, the Quake X works, but I'm just confused about how I even got there, so to speak.
I like the Quake X 1.2.1 since it seems to be working on Sierra and the 1.0.9 that works on yosemite, because they seem very true to the original, which is what I'm looking for. Are the ones you mentioned in the post above comparable? Or are they modded to look different, etc? Thank you very much for your time and help on this, much appreciated.
