    Ok.. so I finally decided it should be safe to upgrade to sp2.. Now I can't us glpro, qrack, or anything else gl related.. I can use winquake.. grrrrrr This is the error I'm getting? Any idea's? I would reset xp to an earlier date but did you know the sp2 wipes those out? Did it tell me that? NOOOOOOOO Tried using the driver update and it says its not compatible with the Nividia GeForce4 420 Go Graphics controller whatever the hell that is.

    Upgrades are unpredictable and painful.

    I'd try downloading the latest drivers from the Nvidia page and hope that everything goes right.

        that could mean that your GPU is so old the latest drivers no longer support it.. you should look in the driver archives to find one that does support it.

        it's also possible you selected the wrong driver.

          Uninstalled sp2 for now. Will try and see if I can find something that fixes that driver.

            I looked it up and it did say that the video card drivers were out of date.

            You did choose the GeForce Go 7 drivers?

            NOTE: If you came here from Google et al. and are looking for a way around this bug, I cannot help you. Please contact tech support at your hardware or software vendor. The only advice I can offer is: "try rebooting" and if that doesn't help, I don't know what else to tell you.

            update Yep, rebooting did the trick. Must have been some strange intersection of Java Applets and OpenGL that I got in my last Windows update. Damn that is lame that you still need to reboot every time.

              Well.. a reboot and a slap (slap for a laptop,kick for a pc) didn't seem to help ; neither did calling it a name. Can't figure out why.. Everything else seems to listen when I do that. ;

              Think I might have found a driver but I'm so unsure about this stuff that it might be best not to do the update I always get the criticals.

                That's the whole problem. You have to use more than one name.
