    hello!

i just installed quake for mac osx. problem is that when i try to connect to a server (qw) nothing happens. it just says connecting to...connecting to... but nothing happens after that. i tried many servers.

i tried to read how to fix this but still dont understand how.

what i use: mac osx, quakeworld 1.0.9 (fruitz of dojo) and a dsl.

    any help would be appreciated

Get EZQuake or FuhQuake for the Mac. I've heard that neither are "perfect", but the original QuakeWorld executables are scarely used for Quakeworld.

DarkPlaces, which now can do QuakeWorld servers might be an option, but I'm not sure if the Mac OS/X build is current -- in otherwords, the latest DarkPlaces binary might be before QuakeWorld support was added and/or stable.

Note: The best place to get the best answer for this is at http://quakeworld.nu/forum/viewforum.php?id=8 which is the "Clients" forum at quakeworld.nu

Quakeone.com - Being exactly one-half good and one-half evil has advantages. When a portal opens to the antimatter universe, my opposite is just me with a goatee.

So while you guys all have to fight your anti-matter counterparts, me and my evil twin will be drinking a beer laughing at you guys ...

Make sure you don't have a firewall turned on. If you are using a router check that first. If not, be sure you don't have anything running that could block certain ports from accessing the network.

I'm no Mac guru, but I've had those same issues using linux and windows. Normally it is caused by the above statement.

You should use a firewall enabled at the least, really wont suffer ping if your lpb.
But if at all else, use the -ip parameter and your ipaddress

          ie "glpro.exe -ip 127.0.0.1"
