  • Want to get back.

    Hi,

I played quake extensively in college about 5 years ago. I was in a big CTF clan for quake 2.

I downloaded and followed the instructions in the link to play Quake for Free.

I tried to connect to one of the quake servers. I then got this message "Can't find model file progs/teleport.mdl"

    Any ideas what's up?

    Thanks,

    George

Shareware Quake can only connect to xctf.clan-rum.org. You need registered Quake to play on any other server.

The only difference between shareware Quake and registered Quake is a single file, pak1.pak that goes in c:\quake\id1\pak1.pak so if you have your Quake CD, copy that to c:\quake\id1\pak1.pak and you are all setup.

I've sent you a private message explaining the details.

Ok, I've been having lots of fun playing DM3, although I've been frustrated as I'm getting fragged a lot, and I'm embarrasing myself.

I want to learn rocketjumping. I found a site that has demo files with the extension *.mvd. How exactly does one play such demo files? The demo is for QuakeWorld...I assume QuakeWorld is the same thing as the ProQuake launcher?

I also want to practice on dm3 by myself. I can load the map but how do I make myself invincible so that when I'm practicing rocket jumps I don't keep dying?

      Thanks,

The easiest way to do what you want to do is to connect to rage.quakeone.com:26001 (nobody will be there normally) and type "airshot" in the console.

You will be on DM3 free to run around with no self damage and unlimited ammo.

Rocket jumping is easy, just press jump (usually the spacebar) and fire at the same time.

/Quake and Quakeworld aren't quite the same thing, you can't play those demos using ProQuake.

        Option #2:

        1. Start ProQuake and in the console type MAP DM3
        2. In the console, type GOD
        3. In the console, type IMPULSE 9

You'll have 100 rockets and won't be able to hurt yourself.
