  • qrack resolutions

i'd like to play quake at higher resolutions... like the native 1440x900 on my laptop. however, when setting my resolution beyond 1024 in qrack, i get the following messages:
    1280: specified videomode not available
1440: couldn't set fullscreen DIB mode
    (both are 32 bpp)

BUT, glpro allows me to play in 1440x900x32...
anyone understand what these errors are diagnostic of?
and is there actually any point to playing at that high res?

    my present working shortcut is:
    -width 1024 -bpp 32 -refreshrate 85 -mem 128

    toshiba M60 1.86
    2gigs ram
    128 nvidia go6600
    1440x900 res.

    try
    -width 1440 -height 900

you should always include the height, otherwise the engine has to guess what to use.

ya what they said. Both -width and -height parameters are required (for Qrack), and it doesnt hurt to specify the refreshrate, here's my commandline...

        F:\quake\glQrack.exe -mem 64 -zone 1024 -width 1440 -height 900 -refreshrate 75 -conwidth 720 -conheight 450 -bpp 32 -dinput -m_smooth -game frikbot

no, pq doesnt support it. Proquake's default is 72hz, but u can override that on the driver settings. Though some driver's dont allow this, which is why modern clients support refreshrate control. Qrack's default though is 60hz, as most players use flatpanels, some better than others, 60 is a baseline without getting the "DIB error".
