  • Double Screens

Hi I am new to the world of quake. when i start up glQrack it loads normally then when i hit Esc and go onto multiplayer the main menu screen stays but the multiplayer screen appears; it makes the screens on top of each other. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if so you could help me :d

Also, When I hit the flag button on my keyboard my desktop shows up but when i try to maximize glqrack again it will freeze for 30sec or so then say error and closes it

I'd recommend getting a copy of Qrack 1.60 and trying that one out, since 1.70 is beta then it could be determined if it is something with your system or just this latest release.

I don't see a link to Qrack 1.60 anywhere, the only prior build I can find a link for right now is 1.52

i had that problem too with a TFT screen and an intel onboard gfx unit..
i remember setting the screen to 72 Hz instead of the default 60 did help..
also alt-tabbing a few times made the double screen (flickering) go away.. hope it helps.. or try another client like qrack/joequake/darkplaces

if your gonna alt-tab a lot, just run it in window mode and save yourself some headache

              hint :
if your desktop resolution is 1280x1024, use -window -height 1024 -width 768

if your desktop resolution is 1024x768 , use -window -height 800 -width 600

if you desktop resolution is 800x600 , use -window -height 640 -width 480

              etc etc.
I personally use window mode, cuz im always chatting in IRC / surfing quakeone.com while im dead

You could run the game in software mode on ProQuake or similar. You won't get the alt-tab issues or flickering.
