  • Total Noob Question - Frogbots with ProQuake

    Hi everyone,

I just wanted to know how to use frogbots with proquake. I have version 3.50 of proquake and I also have the frogbots, along with Trinca's qwprogs.dat file which apparently supports a far greater number of maps.

So yeah, complete noob, just asking how to use frogbots with proquake. I found a thread somewhere else that says type "gamedir frogbot" in the console ('m assuming it's the cnsole anyway :p) and then after that you can simply addbots, but it doesn't seem to work.

Anyway, thanks for your time and any help you can give me.

Trinca's Frogbot package is for Quakeworld clients, use EZQuake or FuhQuake to use that; it won't work with ProQuake.

(Although if you want to use Frogbots with ProQuake you can, but you will need to use this instead: http://www.quakeone.com/index.php?in...ile&file_id=36 but Trinca's supports many more maps)
Quakeone.com - Being exactly one-half good and one-half evil has advantages. When a portal opens to the antimatter universe, my opposite is just me with a goatee.

So while you guys all have to fight your anti-matter counterparts, me and my evil twin will be drinking a beer laughing at you guys ...

Ah right, cool. Thanks for the link, I was able to get that working. :p

Yeah, I was thinking of going for one of those clients, but I wanted to approximate classic quake as much as possible and read somewhere that proquake was a good option for that. But, anyways, yeah, I'll probably check out ezquake and fuhquake too.

      Anyway, mucho gracias.

LOL, these frogbots are great. They splatter me all over the map on the higher skill settings. I must've been playing aerowalk for about an hour. It's a shame about the limited map support, cause they really do kick ass :p

I took a look at some other bots, the frikbots were good but quite often seemed to get stuck in place (in DM1 anyway) and they were very (unrealistically) vulnerable when waiting on the switch lowering the bars or the mega-health secret door to open.

I just wanted to play with bots to get used to the game: actual players would pretty much obliterate me and I'm having trouble with my internet connection anyway.

Well anyways, thanks again and if anyone has any further bot recommendations/suggestions/tips feel free to tell me. Remember to put it in basic noob language though.
