  • Problem with FVF and Proquake

Hey all I just recently got back into Quake. I was trying to play fvf with glquake and it was pretty dark. I read the thread about how to change that and none of it worked. On FVF's website they say you can use proquake with it and I heard that proquake is brighter than regular glquake. The problem I'm having with is getting them to work together. I'll start proquake with -game fvf command and the fvf demo starts up looks like it will work. The thing is when I try to start a new game it says error only the server can change the map. So I try to start a game again and it starts up and it has the fvf guy in the hud but it's not fvf because I can't change my class and it's not fvf levels it's quake. My question is how can I get FVF to work with proquake like there website says it can? So I can actually see when playing thanks in advance.

For some reason, FvF doesn't like GLPRO. You're better off with joequake/qrack/darkplaces

darkplaces gets this wierd frame chop (but the ping is fine) in fvf.servequake.com. Gunter uses a messed up quake engine. It was fixed a few months ago but now it's back to chop.

If I understand your problem correctly, your trying to play the registered version of FvF, and the one you downloaded was the version for the server, 2.09.15. (fvf.servequake.com)

The registered version of FvF can be found here in the download section: http://fvf.home.mchsi.com/

The registered version includes new maps, monsters, models and sounds. But it's been long since abandoned.

For playing single player with version 2.09.15, the one you downloaded, I believe you have to go into the console and type in "quest" without the quotes, and it should start up.

For single player in the registered version, you should be able to go to Menu -> New Game -> Single player -> and it will start.

Are you still getting a brightness problem with GL ProQuake?

There is nothing wrong with GLpro and FvF together.

No I didn't download the one for the server I downloaded the two rar files fvfr part 1 and fvfr part2. It starts up like it should with the fvf demo and then when I do go Menu -> New Game -> Single player -> thats when it says error only server can change map and so I do it again Menu -> New Game -> Single player -> and it starts up but goes into normal quake. I can play this in GL quake but like I said it's very dark. Thanks once again everyone for all the help.

Well, one way to quickly solve the problem is to just use Enhanced GLQuake which has brightness control in the menu (among the other optional features):

Quakeone.com - Being exactly one-half good and one-half evil has advantages. When a portal opens to the antimatter universe, my opposite is just me with a goatee.

So while you guys all have to fight your anti-matter counterparts, me and my evil twin will be drinking a beer laughing at you guys ...
