  • netquake movement question

I've been mainly playing Quakeworld and I just started getting into NetQuake again with Qrack. I've noticed on certain servers theres this "slippery feeling" and it feels almost like my movement delays a second or so. on the Chicago CAx, it has a better and quick feel to it...like playing doom online. is there anyway I can fix that type of movement delay on other servers?

This is partially the ticrate (timing that the server sends updates to the client).
QuakeWorld is like 77updates per sec as netQuake is 20/sec..
QuakeWorld has prediction code that emulates the feel of singleplayer. So that it feels fast. Depending on your ping, in netQuake, the slippery feel can be more or less. Quakeworld's prediction code tries to deter this and ezQuake is getting closer to the real feel, though in my humble opinion, DarkPlaces has the better protocol, yet isnt widely adapted (yet)...but at sub 30 ping netQuake is to me just as good as anything else...

As I run a server from time to time with mostly Qrack clients is there anything that you could recommend I should add to the command line to optimise the performance and enhance the smooth 'fluid' feel of the server (e.g. -ticrate somefigure) ? Many thanks

      Kind regards
