  • Qrack + Malice Addon Pack, display trouble

Hey all, I JUST got back into gaming again and figured I'd try the old school games 1st: well it starts up great - much better than FuhQuake (couldn't get the models to load correctly) and GLquake doesn't like to hold on to any of my config.cfg settings... So Qrak to the rescue! Everything works great, except the smoothing of walls and everything. Like someone smudged over the walls and floors. The weapons and monsters look good though... what am I doing wrong, if anything?

    SCREEN SHOT?
I got malice and it looks fine.. maybe up your anisotropic filter in the video options?

try setting "texture detail" to off in the menu (artificial bump mapping)..

also.. make sure you are running in -bpp 32 mode (16 bpp makes it look all fuzzy) and Anisotropic Filtering definitely makes a difference but it might cut down your FPS (depending on your hardware).

also make sure gl_picmip is set to 0 (restart map if it was not)

RAAAH! I didn't even think about posting a screen! Basically just imagine you took a smudge tool in photoshop and just smudged/smoothed over all details on the walls, weapon, monsters. Everything is sorta blurry, but I can see the improvement in the particle, explosions, and effects. I'll post a pic after work...

Here are the settings for this scrn capt:

            glQrack.exe -noforcemparms -conwidth 1024 -conheight 768 -width 1280 -height 1024 -zone 1024 -bpp 32 -mem 128 -game malice

Okay I just loaded it [email protected] 1024x768 and it looks "normal" just like it should... what gives?

              set gl_textureless 0, r_outline 0, gl_detail 0, gl_picmip 0
that should fix it.. unless the textures used in that map just look like that
