  • Q1 very slow on gforce, pls help

    Hi,
I installed Q1 after few years brake. It runs, but extremly slowly, doesn't matter if by winquake or not, with opengl or not. All the time it takes few minutes just to see the menu and hit quit.)
Computer was dedicated to Q3 arena some years ago, AMD 900m 512Mb NVIDIA Gforce2. XP. Q3 goes perfectly, Unreal as well.
Please let me have your suggestions, I miss Q1 very much and now I agreed with some friends to rebuild our clan, but I cannot lunch it!

It's good to see more players coming back to the game. As the spec of the machine seems comparatively basic to some of the 'beasts' you see around these days you might try using one of the more advanced quake engines such as Qrack or Darkplaces and try turning off the eye candy until you get the right level of performance. There is a quake client download section here at QuakeOne.com which may help you. I also seem to recall the ever helpful Baker creating a launcher that allows you tweak the setting of ProQuake to suit your needs. It's available here.

    Hope this helps
