  • Missionpacks on QuakeGL

Hey, I'm new to the Quake community (not new to Quake), and I have QuakeGL installed on my computer, and I have the original mission packs. Now, I'm not talking about GL Quake, which are apparently different, so the above stickied mission pack thread doesn't really help me. I was wanting to know if there was any way to install the mission packs, and if it requires the use of DOSBox, how to use it (I can't mount any drives).

I have the full versions of the original Quake and Mission packs (not installed) along with GL Quake (not installed).

the mission packs should definitely not require the use of DOSbox. What you probably want to do is download a new client that has more features/options than glquake. Try Qrack if you want to add some graphical updates to quake, or go for glpro if you want to keep the original feel/look of quake, but want some extra features, like changing video modes in game.

Send me a private message and I'll send you a link to something I made to solve to solve this problem.

I can then message you a link to a .zip file I made to solve this problem, but I won't post the link in the forum because it contains the full Mission Pack.

So while you guys all have to fight your anti-matter counterparts, me and my evil twin will be drinking a beer laughing at you guys ...

i'm really confused, if he has the mission pack CD, why can't he just install it. Why would you need DOSbox, the mission packs were compatible with winquake, back when I played them in 97/98. And, at the very least, you can simply install the mission packs into some dummy folder, and simply copy the folders/file over to your quake directory. Quake is very easy in the sense that it doesn't need to have been "installed" on your computer to play. You really only need the pak files in the correct folders.

Somewhere in your missionpack CD, there is a file named pak0.pak. Make a folder in your quake directory, name it as "rogue" or "hipnotic" depending on which missionpack you have, and copy that pak0.pak into the newly made folder, then start quake like:

            glquake.exe -hipnotic, or
            glquake.exe -rogue

You don't need to run the installation program at all.
