  • MacQuake Config

Where/how can I edit the config and have it save and reload with macquake? And is there any news on Qrack or JoeQuake coming out for crapintosh?

I believe it can be done with any text editor, just like in Windows. Open the config file and when prompted select a text editor from the list that pops up.

Most games are on PC. You can ditch your crapintosh and get a fairly cheap but peformant PC for around 400 then get a good videocard and you got yourself a pretty muscled up system. That is the lazy solution. That is unless you do not want to build it up for yourself from the ground up.

Do you use the ProQuake for Mac found on this site? They should all be the same anyways. Just go into quake/id1 and open your config.cfg. Change whatever you would like to and save it. Next time you open Quake it should automatically load it. If you're already in Quake. Open the console and use "exec config.cfg" (without the quotes).

see how he gets offended, even if jokingly, when you insult macs? i use PCs, but if you tell me PCs suck, i really dont care about your opinion because it does not change how i use the machine. why do mac users always have to wrap up their choice of calculating machines with their personality and their philosophical beliefs? its just a fucking machine, if you prefer to use it, fine, i dont give a shit. using one does not make you smart or original or anti-establishment. seems to me like mac users are completely under the sway of mac marketing; how groovy and unique is that?

You are too serious. Sarcasm was a key ingredient.

I don't care what brand your computer is (as long as its not a gateway) I have a mac because I use it for audio production. Im sure your computer suits you for whatever work you do on it.

But this isn't the subject at hand. Lets not have this be a omi and tia type of thread.

MACs are great. The graphics on them rock!!! Despite them being pricy, I would definitely get one if they had more games on it. I am a notorious gamer. I pay big bucks $$$ for the most high quality products - if they do not go over my budget - as I want to own the best.

But why are there few games on it? Can someone please enlighten me and answer me why, there are such few games on MACs? Is it expensive to develop for them, or what?

He referred to his MAC as a crapintosh, which I fell out of my chair laughing and that is why I repeated it back to him because he referred to his own MAC that way. I in no way wish to offend other MAC owners, I was solely and exclusively talking to CD.

I in no way wanted to promote one system over the other. I just suggested the PC if he wanted to play more games on it, then it would a more viable and cheaper solution rather then to buy a more expensive and powerful MAC than what he already owned.

I apologize for any misinterpretation of my original message.

The newer macs work great for gaming, however, I believe PCs handle the games better and the hardware on them is more easily upgradeable to suit the players preference.
But, next time you are watching TV and you come across a show where they are in a music studio, or they are editing a movie, take note on what kind of a computer they are using. Macs have the upper hand in the subject of multi-media.

they dont make games for macs because it costs money to port them over, and macs don't have a large enough user base to justify the cost. professional video and audio editing, though, macs are definitely ahead; because although the professional community is small, it is willing to pay huge money for good software

                  I think this slowly changing.

I read some statistic that showed Macs have a significant % of notebook sales. I have seen statistics that they sell about 1.2 million per quarter = around 4 million per year.

That's only around 8% of the market (I'm talking notebooks only), but it is getting increasingly worthwhile.

The game makers that do bother have less competition in that market due to all the companies that don't bother.

Haha, thanks guys. I actually am very happy with my mac as it's a solid machine for the programs I need to run it's just crap when it comes to gaming/games available for it and the ability to adjust stuff easily as I used to be able to on my older pc's. And the mice don't work so well either, need to find a good choice for playing.

I agree my Macbook Pro is the best gaming machine/computer I've ever used.
