I have installed Quake one through using WINE (Runs windows applications on Linux machines).. got Photoshop Cs2 working but thats not the point.

What is happening is... when I click on glquake.exe and winquake.exe I get the 'W_LoadWadFile: couldn't load gfx.wad'

The id1 and pak0 and pak1 files are there.

What do I need to do?

I know Linux is case sensitive but I don't know what to put them as. When installed, they were all capitals.

    Help!!

Use a terminal and define the direct path..

    Example:
    $wine /home/user/.c_wine/quake/glquake.exe

instead of double clicking the EXE

I haven't used wine in a while but I remember it creating a hidden directory within your home directory which has the pseudo C: partition.
    QuakeOne.com
    Quake One Resurrection

    QuakeOne.com/qrack
    Great Quake engine

You shouldn't use wine to run quake in linux. There are versions of quake that run natively in linux. Secondly when you have the quake executable, make a directory id1/ with the pak files in it so that quake can find them

No, that would be a completely different error message.

If you mean Quake modifications, just add them like any other mod using the -game foldername command

On this very site, in the downloads section. I recommend proquake

Do you want to play Singleplayer or Multiplayer (Netquake) or Multiplayer (QuakeWorld)?

                    For Singleplayer please use http://www.kristianduske.com/fitzquake/
For Multiplayer (Netquake) please use Proquake
For Multiplayer (QuakeWorld) please use ezQuake (which is included in the nQuake package)

Do NOT try playing mods/addons with a QW engine.

DarkPlaces has a browse mods feature in the menu.

There is also a DarkPlaces IRC channel at:
